Worship This Summer

We are now gathering for worship at the Marblehead Lighthouse – as long as it’s not raining – at
8 am every Sunday morning. If it is raining, our service will be held in the Sanctuary. If you can’t join us at Chandler Hovey Park, you can continue to join us in cyberspace.
Our on-line summer services will have a different look and feel than what we’ve gotten used to for the past year: we’ll be filming our Lighthouse service each week, then posting it to our YouTube channel (Old North Church Marblehead) and Facebook page (Friends of Old North Church Marblehead.)
We hope you’ll join us for worship this week and every week, whether in-person at the Lighthouse or on-line!

Bible Study on Paul

Paul wrote most of the New Testament, but many of us have little familiarity with his life and teachings. Join together for a Bible study on Paul where we will read a book about Paul: “Paul: A Very Short Introduction” by
E. P. Sanders, alongside biblical passages he wrote.

We’ll start on Sunday Sept 19 at 11:15 (if there’s interest in a 9am group as well, we can have a second cohort that meets then). Let Lindsay know if you’re interested so we can order books for you (lindsaypopper@gmail.com or 423-863-8251).

We will meet outside, weather-permitting, or in a well-ventilated Room with masks on.

Outreach Ministry Board News

The Outreach Ministry Board has just donated funds to support the relief work after the recent earthquake in Haiti. It donated to two organizations - Partners in Health and the Haiti Development Institute which is affiliated to the Boston Foundation.

A Blessing for Back to School and Returning to Work Places

Loving God, Bless the backpacks and masks for the children, youth and adults who will carry them and wear them as they begin another year of school, new programs and work in this time of pandemic.
Give them peace when they feel worried, focus them when they feel distracted, energy to take on the day when they feel tired, and perhaps, overwhelmed when it feels hard.

Open their minds to the lessons and new experiences they will encounter.

Help them to make friends that build one another up and be friends to those who need them.

Guide them in making good and safe choices as they grow in their wisdom. Open them to be aware of your presences when in the classroom, playground, at home and at work, knowing your love and care in all they do. Praise be to God, Amen

Coordination of Team Captains for Meals Provided at Lifebridge

The Outreach Ministry group is hoping to hear from anyone interested in volunteering to coordinate the Team Captains who provide meals for Lifebridge. The current organizer is Gail Hough, who is stepping down.

Gail has described the responsibilities as follows:

“The task is not very time-intensive since all of the Team Captains do a great job organizing their own teams and meal service. In early December each year, I assign dates, on a rotational basis, to each of the eight teams and send this schedule out to the Captains and to Karen Andrews at Lifebridge. I ask that they send any changes to their team makeup to me so I can keep a record of the volunteers on each team. The Captains take it from there. Karen has the contact details for each Captain and reaches out to them a few days in advance to confirm dinner plans.”

Anyone interested in volunteering to help with the meal teams in this capacity should contact Gail Hough at gail.hough@gmail.com
Anti-Racism Accountability Group

A small group of Old Northers are continuing to meet to hold ourselves accountable to doing anti-racism work in our own lives. Throughout the summer, we will be meeting in person on the 3rd Monday evening of the month at a group member's house; we'd love to have you join us.
