Karen Kilty's Sermon:
"Kneeling at the Manger"
Christmas Eve at Old North Church

Last Christmas was like no other in our collective memory. A novel coronavirus saw to that. We all hoped THIS Christmas would be different, and in some ways, it is. But, once again, “this most wonderful time of the year” will be something other than our cherished memories of Christmas past.  But even in yet another unusual year, Christmas is first and foremost about the fulfillment of God’s promise to enter human history – not just once, but again and again. It is a time to celebrate the impossibly good news that God has come to us in the Christ Child – a mystery we may not understand, but we can certainly experience.

This year we are happy to offer in-person worship on Christmas Eve at 5, 8 and 11 pm. Our COVID protocols will be observed: those attending are required to be fully vaccinated, masked and symptom-free. We will also be posting two virtual services at 8 pm and 11 pm on Facebook (Friends of Old North Church Marblehead) and YouTube (Old North Church Marblehead.) As in years past, we urge you to remember our special Christmas offering. As is our long-standing tradition at Old North Church, all of your donations will be disbursed to the various agencies and organizations supported by our Outreach Ministries Board. As we all know, there is so much need out there this year.

Whatever else this Christmas has in store for you, may it also be full of the awesome wonder of God’s love. On behalf of your church staff – Lindsay, Karen, Maria, Sarah, Liz, Lisa, Donna and Bob – I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and Happy New Year!

Grace and peace,
Dennis
Please Note: Church Elevator Out of Service

We regret to inform you that the elevator at Old North Church is out of service due to damage to the wiring circuit. It will not be in operation for the next two weeks as we await replacement parts. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Outreach Ministry Update

The Outreach Ministry would like to thank all those who donated to the Marblehead Food Pantry during the month of November. These funds enabled our shoppers to purchase over $4000 worth of food, cleaning supplies and personal items for the Food Pantry.

Stewardship

Our stewardship campaign is well underway. Thus far we have received 176 pledges totaling $366,357. We hope to complete the pledge portion of the campaign by the end of the year so we can begin our capital fund drive in January. If you have not done so already, please return your completed pledge card to the church office, place it in the offertory plate on Sunday, or pledge online at our website, www.onchurch.org/pledge Thank you in advance for your financial support of Old North Church!
