Covid-19 Protocols at Old North Church
Masking Optional - Vaccination Expected

Face masks are no longer required for the congregation. Following guidance from the CDC, the Marblehead Board of Public Health, and medical professionals in our congregation, we are no longer requiring face masks for the congregation. The choir will continue to wear masks while singing. We recommend masking for those at increased risk of COVID, those who are unvaccinated, or those who have a high-risk household member.

All members of the Old North Church clergy, staff and choir have been vaccinated against Covid-19. We urge you to be vaccinated as well. For information on the vaccine or how to be vaccinated, please go to www.mass.gov/covid-19

We urge you to continue to observe physical distancing between households, particularly if you or a member of your household is unvaccinated.

Hand sanitizer and disposable face masks are available in the narthex.

Update from the Interim Search Committee

We have received several impressive candidate profiles and are in the process of interviewing the candidates. We will keep the congregation posted as we have more information.

If you have any questions about this process, please reach out by email to one of the co-chairs of the Interim Search Committee: Bonnie MacDonald bonnietim@comcast.net or John Meakin jgmeakin@icloud.com. We appreciate everyone's faith and understanding as we move through this time of transition.
Monthly Bell Ringing to Call Awareness About Climate Change

Beginning in April, ONC and several other churches that are part of the Marblehead Ministerial Association started ringing their bells at 11am on the 11th of the month for 11 minutes to call attention to the need to take 11th hour action about the climate crisis. In doing so, we have joined this important initiative which was started earlier this year by churches in Cambridge and Cape Ann to ring their bells on the 11th of each month.

The United Nations Climate Report issued in February found that climate change is happening even faster than anticipated and drastic action is needed now. Coastal communities such as ours are especially vulnerable to the effects of climate change. For suggestion on immediate actions our community can take for reducing their carbon footprint, visit www.sustainablemarblehead.org/in-your-home.

Anyone wishing to volunteer as a monthly bell ringer for climate action should contact Mimi Hollister (mimi.hollister@aol.com or 781-910-2376).

Attention Walkers!

An organization which Old North supports, HAWC (Healing Abuse, Working for Change) is planning its Annual Walk for HAWC on June 5. Because of our support, Old North has been given 5 free registrations and sized t-shirts for the walk. If you’re interested in participating in the walk for this organization, which offers support and protection for victims of domestic violence, give Becky Burckmyer a call at 781-632-6505. They’d love to include you. First come, first served: call soon!

ONC Reading and Discussion Group
Wednesday, May 11th

The next meeting of the Old North Reading and Discussion Group on Preserving Our Democracy and Environment will be on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, from 8:30 to 10:00 AM. This is the latest of a series of meetings on this subject that have been hosted for all by the ONC Men’s Group. The discussions are supported by background reading. You are invited to participate regardless of the amount of your preparation or whether you have attended a previous meeting. For the May meeting we will continue discussing the book by Ray Dalio, Principles for Dealing with the Changing World Order: Why Nations Succeed and Fail, Simon & Schuster, 30 Nov 2021. This book is particularly relevant to the situation in the world today, with all its evident instabilities. We will also continue discussing the goals of our group and a draft letter to an editor. The meeting will be held on Zoom. To join the meeting, just click on
