Worship Service Information

We are delighted to be able to worship once again in the sanctuary at Old North Church. We are mindful that the recent surge in COVID cases in and around Marblehead requires our sustained vigilance and willingness to follow the recommendations and protocols from public health officials.
We are now meeting in-person for worship at 8 am and at 10 am in the Sanctuary. Since the health and safety of all our members and friends is of paramount importance, we are requiring face masks and social distancing for those attending. We ask that those who are unvaccinated continue to worship with us online rather than in person.

The 10am service includes music provided by our soloists and senior choir. The sanctuary windows will be open (weather permitting) and fans will be assisting with ventilation. Children of all ages are welcome to attend our worship services with their families, but must be masked if 2 years old or above. There will be outdoor Sunday school once a month.

Please note that no nursery care is being provided during our services.
We will continue to post videos of our weekly worship services on our YouTube channel (Old North Church Marblehead) and on Facebook (Friends of Old North Church, Marblehead). The videos will be posted on Sunday afternoons.
We look forward to seeing you in church, however you feel most comfortable joining us!

Bible Study on Paul Will Meet this Sunday, November 7 at 11:15

You are welcome to join our Bible study on Paul each Sunday at 11:15--whether you've come to previous sessions or not.

Paul wrote most of the New Testament, but many of us have little familiarity with his life and teachings. Join together for a Bible study on Paul where we will read a book about Paul: “Paul: A Very Short Introduction” by E. P. Sanders, alongside biblical passages he wrote.

We will meet outside on the patio at 8 Stacey Street (our church offices) or in a well-ventilated room with masks on.
Contact Lindsay (lindsaypopper@gmail.com or 423-863-8251) for more information.

2022 Stewardship Campaign is Underway!

By now you’ve received our a letter announcing the start of our Stewardship Campaign for 2022. We need to hear from you as soon as possible so we can prepare our income and expense budget for the coming year. If you have not done so already, please return your completed pledge card to the church office, or pledge online at our website, www.onchurch.org/pledge
Thank you!

Marblehead Food Pantry

November is the month when traditionally Old North helps stock the shelves at the Marblehead Food Pantry. Due to continuing COVID 19 precautions, we will once again follow the “new” procedures. Back in April our appeal for monetary donations was overwhelmingly successful. Thank you! That gift kept the Food Pantry well stocked for quite a while and made a huge difference to so many people.

Please, once again, consider writing a check to Old North Church, 8 Stacey Street, Marblehead MA 01945 and putting Marblehead Food Pantry in the memo line. Alternatively, you may make an on line donation, with the same specification. Our Old North shopping team will use your kind donation to purchase the very specific needs of the Food Pantry each week. These include non-perishable goods, toiletries and personal items.

Thank you for your consideration, Lynda Hare on behalf of the Outreach Ministry Board.
Lindsay is Now a Foster Parent!

Some exciting news: my wife Ashley and I are now foster parents through the Department of Children and Families. A 2 year old boy was placed with us this past Monday, and everyone is adjusting well. He's got a ton of energy, big smiles, and really (really) loves our dog. His plan is to be reunified with his mom in a few months, but things can change quickly. He'll be coming to church most Sundays. We're protecting his privacy, so won't be sharing any info about his family/experiences, but are happy to share his loving presence with you. We've got just about everything we need for him, and our small apartment can't fit many more toys/clothes/etc., but if you ever want to help out by hanging out with him during church on Sunday, it would be a huge blessing to me. Thanks for your prayers and your patience as we adjust to this exciting new phase!
Love, Lindsay

Time to Turn Back the Clocks

This is the weekend our clocks need to get turned back an hour because Daylight Savings Time ends.

Many thanks to everyone, the Community Life Ministry Board, Lisa and Donna in the church office and you, the congregation, for helping us complete our mission of updating the Old North Church Directory. The new directories will be available on the tables in the Narthex for the next three weeks (one per family, please) and after that in the office on Stacey Street. If your listing is missing or incorrect, please contact Lisa or Donna in the church office at office@onchurch.org.

Old North Reading and Discussion Group - November 10

The next meeting of the Old North Reading and Discussion Group on Preserving Our Democracy and Environment will be on Wednesday, November 10th, from 8:30 to 10:00 AM. This is the latest of a series of meetings on this subject that have been hosted for all by the ONC Men’s Group. The discussions are supported by background reading assignments. You are invited to participate regardless of the amount of your preparation or whether you have attended a previous meeting. At this meeting we will be discussing George Howe Colt’s book, Brothers: What the van Goghs, Booths, Marxes, Kelloggs—and Colts—Tell us About How Siblings Shape Our Lives and History. This book describes the sometimes very wide character differences between brothers. This insight may help us to understand the very wide differences between political points of view that exist in the US today. We will furthermore continue discussing the results of our individual efforts to influence points of view of people we disagree with.

The meeting will be privately hosted on Zoom. Those who have completed their maximal COVID-19 vaccinations and are willing to wear a mask will be able to attend in person in the “Great Room” of the ONC office at 8 Stacey Street. To join the Zoom meeting, just click on

These very special programs are offered as part of the Wednesday night Festival Chorus “Fall Sessions” taking place at Old North from
7:30pm - 8:30pm. Doors open at 7pm; entrance is through the Parish Hall. All in attendance must show proof of vaccination, wear tight-fitting masks, and remain distanced in the sanctuary pews. A free-will offering will be gratefully accepted at the door, with proceeds to help defray Festival Chorus expenses this season. It is not necessary to be a member of the Festival Chorus, the Old North Senior Choir, or Old North Church to attend!

SAVE THE DATES: Saturday, December 4, at 8pm and Sunday, December 5 at 7:30pm.

There will be two public concerts presented during the Marblehead Christmas Walk weekend. The concerts will be presented by soloists (no chorus), a chamber orchestra and will include audience participation in singing traditional holiday Carols. The Old North Bell Choir will participate, and we hope to assemble a group of young singers (12+ and vaccinated) to help lead in singing the carols and perhaps sing a piece of their own. The concerts will be shorter in length with no intermission, and will require proof of vaccination, and masks. Please visit the Festival Chorus website for details: www.oldnorthfestivalchorus.org.

Youth Music Director, Sarah Del Dotto, is currently looking for a group of young singers to participate in the Festival Chorus concerts. This will involve a minimal rehearsal schedule and promises to be lots of fun! Please contact Sarah for details at deldotto.sarah@gmail.com

Bell Choir at Old North: Liz Smith, director, is looking for potential substitute ringers for the Festival Chorus weekend. All members must be vaccinated, and masks are required. If you would like to participate, please contact Liz at: smith.liz@gmail.com.
