Prayer Requests
"Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances for this is God's will for you in Jesus Christ. " 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Pender is a church committed to the power of prayer. Our "prayer chain" is a group of church members constantly in prayer for the needs of our congregation. To make your prayer needs known, you may email the prayer chain by clicking here to send an email to our group of prayer warriors.
God Moments
"You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand." (Psalm 16:11)

Calling all congregants!

Share your God moments with Joyce Munt, so others might see the light of Christ.

My friend’s son had been struggling for years with drug abuse and was in jail when I invited her to last year’s The Chris Atwood Foundation (CAF) Heroes for Hope annual fundraiser.

The Atwoods are members of Pender and lost their 21-year-old son and brother, Chris, to an accidentally fatal heroin overdose. As stated on the CAF website: “The Chris Atwood Foundation works to provide free recovery support and free resources to people with addiction and their families, to change the conversation and policies about addiction from ones of stigma to support and to prevent the disease from taking hold of future generations.”

Fast forward a year later, my friend and her son who is out of jail and doing well thanks in part to the support of The Chris Atwood Foundation, were invited to be special guest speakers during this year’s Heroes for Hope event!

Christian Believer Class
As part of our “Back to School Emphasis”, Pastor Will is excited about teaching a 31 week intensive study titled, “Christian Believer.” It combines the study of Scripture and Christian belief. A limited number of participants will be able to take this class “face to face.” Others, can participate on Zoom.

For now, it will be offered on Tuesdays at 2pm or 7pm.
  • Your commitment includes a half hour to forty five minutes of reading 6 days a week in preparation for the class that will last approximately 2 hours.
  • You’ll need to maintain a discipline and take notes on what you are reading for the class meeting discussion.
  • You’ll need to purchase the Christian Believer Study Manual (red book) and Christian Believer Readings (white book). They are available at Cokesbury.com as well as Amazon.com. (Compare the prices!)

If you want to take this class and the cost of books is preventing you, please contact Pastor Will or Joyce Munt as soon as possible, and they will be provided.

We’ll take mutually agreed upon breaks in our meeting schedule for holidays.

A Retirement Acknowledgment
Dear Pender Community and Family,

"How can I say thanks for all the things that you have done for me, things so undeserved yet you gave to prove your love for me. The voices of a million angels could not express my gratitude, for all that I am and ever hope to be, I owe it all to thee. To God Be the Glory, to God be the glory, to God be the glory for the things He has done. With his blood he has saved me, and with his power, he reached down and raised me, to God be the glory, for the things he has done." (My Tribute (To God Be The Glory)
Andrae Crouch 1984).

These words of gratitude and thanks sung by Andrae Crouch in 1984, expressed his gratitude to our heavenly father, and we at Pender believe this spiritual song embodies the spirit and essence of our organist and pianist, Ann Rollins, who announced she will retire after 18 years of faithful and devoted service.

Now, it is time for the Pender family and community to express our thanks and gratitude. You have two opportunities in addition to any personal notes you may want to offer:

  1. You can make a love offering gift – indicate "Love Offering Gift" in the memo of your check or online giving. Please note that love offerings are not tax deductible.
  2. You can send her a card and place it in the container outside of the main church entrance doors.

So many of us have additional reasons for our thanks and gratitude to Ann for her loving devotion and service. Let us thank her for all she has done and send our very best wishes and congratulations for a happy retirement.
Children's Time
Do you enjoy listening to the Children’s Time messages?

Do you like teaching children about Jesus?

Please consider joining our ministry! Pastor Will is very good about sharing his sermon notes so writing your message is easy and it only has to be 3 to 5 minutes long.

You don’t feel comfortable coming to the church right now? No problem -- just record yourself at home and our wonderful A/V team will add it into the live stream.

Thank you for your time and attention and prayerful consideration of joining this team! If interested, contact Donna Parker.
Protecting Pender Members
Email is a quick and easy way to get the word out to members of a committee, small group or even all of Pender.

However, it is important to protect member privacy by using the BCC (Blind Carbon Copy) function of your email provider rather than just including everyone's email in the address line.

When you place email addresses in the BCC field of a message, those addresses are invisible to the recipients of the email.

Conversely, any email addresses that you place in the To field or the CC field are visible to everyone who receives the message.

Benefits of Using BCC

Using the BCC field to send an email message to a large group of people has a number of benefits, including:
  • The privacy of email addresses is protected in the original message. Recipients will receive the message, but won't be able to see the addresses listed in the BCC field.
  • When an email is forwarded, the addresses of everyone in the To and CC fields are also forwarded along with the message. Addresses that have been placed in the BCC field are not forwarded.
  • If you have placed a large list of recipients in the To or CC field, all of them will receive the reply. By placing recipients in the BCC field, you can help protect them against receiving unnecessary replies from anyone using the Reply All feature.
  • Many viruses and spam programs are now able to sift through mail files and address books for email addresses. Using the BCC field acts as an anti-spam precaution. It reduces the likelihood that recipients will receive a spam message or a virus from another recipient’s infected computer.

If you're the leader of a group at Pender, you could also email members using Constant Contact like we do for this newsletter.

If you are a group leader interested in using Constant Contact, or if you need help setting up your BCC emails, please contact Pender.

Another option would be to use Pender's new texting service to send short messages directly to group members. If you are a group leader interested in texting members of your group, please contact Pender.

If you are a leader of a group and want to set up your own group for text messages, please contact Pender.
