By following Jesus and reaching out to others, we seek God's transformation of ourselves and our world.
The Ten Commandments - all about relationship - the first four - about our relationship with God - the last six about our relationship with the rest of the world. We try to obey the last six just as much as we try to obey the first four - and are so proud when we can check off boxes of our own law keeping - we've got this thing nailed! And even if we slip, surely our minor infractions are so much less than the things other people do! How often do we focus on the sins of others as greater than our own? How often do we try to keep judgement out there so that no one will judge us? And Christ says "love your neighbor as you love yourself" - that is the second commandment! Do we love all? What does that even mean?

See you Sunday!

Pender Partners
Pender Civil Legal Aid Clinic
Are you a Lawyer or Paralegal? Do you have a heart for the indigent? Do you believe that our justice system should be accessible to all, including the poor?

A new Christian civil legal aid clinic is forming at Pender to address the needs of our indigent neighbors who cannot afford an attorney to represent them in legal matters involving the loss of a critical need, such as housing, personal safety, or income. Our clinic will provide both legal and spiritual counseling to clients.

Though legal training is certainly a bonus, you do not have to be a lawyer to participate in this new ministry! If you or anyone you know are interested in learning more about this new ministry opportunity, please contact Angie Cross Green ASAP.
“Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed.”

Spring Cleaning is Right Around the Corner!
The UMW will once again host a Spring Boutique so mark your calendar for the week of April 28 - May 4. Every piece of clothing, jewelry, kitchen item, linen, or toy out of your house not only cuts out your clutter, it is re-homed to a family that will use and cherish it.  Please set aside  only   spring and summer clothing  that is in new or like-new condition.  No rips, stains or obvious wear please.  This is what makes our Boutique so successful – the clothes are in great shape and you can’t beat the prices!  (We do  not  have the space for winter items – that’s what our fall boutique is for – box them up and we’ll take them later in the year.)

Donations will be accepted on Sunday afternoon, April 28 through Tuesday, April 30. More details to follow.
