"Proudly Codependent"
– Rabbi Ingber's Sermon
Must God’s blessing be mediated in order for us to receive it? In last week’s Torah reading, a confusing verse introduces us to the Priestly Blessing. To explain it, our tradition teaches that preparation and a partnering with God are required in order to receive blessing. Thus, Rabbi Ingber redeems the poorly named psychological phenomenon of “codependency,” redefining the term to mean that we must partner not only with God, but with the community that feeds our spirit, stepping in, and claiming responsibility for our part.
