Mount Jumbo Winter Wildlife Closure: Today is the last day to recreate responsibly on Mount Jumbo before we turn the land over to the elk for the winter. There are limited trail options that remain open throughout the year. Learn more about the closure here.

We are pleased to announce Sally Henkel as Run Wild Missoula's newest Program Coordinator! Sally became a Run Wild Missoula member in 2014, when she was just getting her feet on the ground in Montana and discovering her love for trail running. Over the years Sally has gained extensive experience in conservation and mostly recently a tech forward organization doing equity and inclusion work. This work, combined with her passion for the sport has ignited Sally’s interest in the intersection of community development and running. YOYO Tuesday Track
This week's workout is provided by Coach Courtney Babcock: Ladder Down, getting faster as you go.

Don't forget to do a warm up mile or two before starting the workout, and a cool down mile afterwards.

Beginner / Intermediate: Working on 5K Pace

2 x 4:00; 2:00 rest
2 x 3:00; 1:30 rest
2 x 2:00; 1:00 rest
2 x 1:00; :30 rest

Get faster as you go. Start the first 4:00 on the slower end (maybe even half marathon pace) and get faster every minute. Use it like a warm up. Then aim for 5K pace and faster at the end for the rest of the workout.
Advanced: Working on Half Marathon / Marathon Endurance

8:00; 3:00 rest
6:00; 3:00 rest
4:00; 2:00 rest
3:00; 1:30 rest
2:00; 1:00 rest
1:00; cool down

Upcoming Races & Activities
Run Wild Missoula and Runner's Edge will be kicking off 2021 with the Resolution Run! Can we collectively run, walk, or hike 2,021 miles on the first day of the year?? That's our goal and we hope you will help us achieve it! You still have the opportunity to add the coveted mug to your collection and snag a No Peak Envelope from RE. Registration for the Tony Banovich Roads, Tracks, and Trails Memorial Run is open! This 4.35 mile event pays tribute to Tony with a nod to the average daily distance of his 1,731 day run streak. Proceeds from the event will go into the newly established Tony Banovich Fund. Registration will be open until Friday, December 11th

Are you signed up for the last installment of Run for Missoula?? December's Snowy Stride will benefit United Way of Missoula County! More information can be found here. Registration will be open until Sunday, December 13th.

Stay Fit, Stay Active, Stay Healthy - Phase Two does not mean that social distancing is over. Social distancing has been demonstrated as the best weapon that we have at this time in fighting the spread of this virus. We must do our part to ensure the health and safety of those around us. As such, we still encourage you to follow good social distancing and hygiene practices. 
  • To the greatest extent possible, maintain at least 6-feet of separation from others
  • Does not include members of your family who live with you
  • No hugs, handshakes, high fives or elbow bumps
  • Practice good hand washing and hygiene
  • Sneeze or cough into a tissue, handkerchief or the inside of your elbow
  • Don't pose together for selfies
  • Stay home if you feel any sign of sickness or illness
  • Spend time outside every day to brighten your mood and to get a good dose of Vitamin D
  • If it seems too busy or crowded, consider running or walking somewhere else
