SMCC Kicks-Off Hispanic Heritage Month with Constitution Day!
Maricopa County Recorder, Adrian Fontes and MCCCD Associate General Counsel Sr., Melissa Flores will be at SMCC kicking off Hispanic Heritage Month with voting insight and campus advocacy.

Tuesday, September 17, County Recorder Adrian Fontes will be on campus presenting about voting, what it means and the difference between the electoral and popular vote. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in a "Q & A" session with our elected official.

In addition, Melissa Flores, MCCCD Associate General Counsel Sr. for Student Affairs will be at SMCC to discuss statutes, policies and procedures related to Political Activity and Free Expression on campus.

Students will get a chance to learn from experts about their rights and to show them the best way to get engaged on campus.

First SMCC Raspberry JAM Brings Over 200 Students
More than 200 high school students spent their Saturday morning coding and building computers at SMCC.

Early College Programs hosted the first SMCC Raspberry JAM Conference with support from the Gila River Indian Community and the Phoenix AKARAMA Foundation.

The Raspberry JAM consists of several sessions about Coding, Technology and App Development careers, coding and building a Raspberry Pi computer, among other lessons in technology and engineering.

It was a great experience for students and the teams.

Thank you to all who joined in to support, volunteer and facilitate the programs.

Internship Opportunities with HACU
The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) is seeking applicants for the 2020 HACU National Internship Program (HNIP). This program offers students the opportunity to receive valuable work experience through  paid  internships at federal agencies and private corporations nationwide.

SMCC and EMCC Selected for Student Learning Outcomes Opportunity
The National Institute for Learning Outcomes (NILOA) will be offering SMCC and EMCC the opportunity to learn from Coach Errin Heyman about Learning Outcomes in the classroom!

The Institute will take place at EMCC on Friday September 20. 

Faculty are invited to participate from 1:00 to 3:00 PM
