This Week at Saint Andrew's

Welcome to our newsletter.

We hope this information keeps you connected to our church family.

Upcoming Services

Thursday, June 5, 2025, 6:00 p.m.

Evening Prayer

  • Join us for Evening Prayer. The service will be available through Facebook Live at the St. Andrew's Facebook page at 6:00 p.m. Daily Evening Prayer, Rite Two, may be accessed here. The readings for this evening may be accessed here.

Sunday, June 8, 2025, 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. The Day of Pentecost

  • Join us for Holy Eucharist. The service will be available at 10:00 a.m. through Facebook Live at the St. Andrew's Facebook page and Now streaming on YouTube. To get to the YouTube livestream, click here. Once there, you’ll want to click on subscribe, so that you’re always set to go. You can also get there by going to the St. Andrew's website by clicking here and clicking on the YouTube icon at the top right hand side of the page (the red rectangle with a white arrow inside). The service bulletin may be accessed here or by clicking the image of the cover.

Climate Connections: As a way to reduce paper consumption, please consider downloading the bulletin and reading it on your device during the service.

We will be printing fewer bulletins in an effort to reduce our carbon footprint. We realize that using a device to read the bulletin may be a daunting task, but we have several congregants who are ready to help if you need it. If we are able to purchase less paper over time, we will donate the savings to our outreach efforts. If you don’t have a device to use, but are willing to share a bulletin with your neighbor, that helps us reach our goal too.

Pastoral Care

Sick or in the Hospital

If you know of someone in our church family who is sick, in the hospital or in need of pastoral care please notify the office or clergy.

Prayer List

Please remember those who need your daily prayers. Prayer requests may be sent to the office. The prayer list can be accessed here.

Sunday School Information

Sunday School News

Day care for infants and children 3 yrs old and younger during the 10 a.m. service will be provided by Samira Sameni, a preschool teacher at our Saint Andrew’s Children’s Center. Sunday School for children 4 yrs and up will be taught by Tammy Smecker-Hane during the 10 a.m. service. Both will happen together in the Kangaroo Room of the Children’s Center, whose entrance is located in the far left-hand corner of the courtyard (just follow the sign). Please drop your children off there before church begins.

If you have any questions about Sunday School, please email Tammy Smecker-Hane.

Croquet, Anyone?

Someone has borrowed the 2 croquet sets that we bought for the church, and we need to get them back ASAP so that the children can play with their fathers on Father's Day (Jun 15). Each croquet set is contained inside a big green & black bag labeled "Saint Andrew's Church", and they were stored in the closet off the Narthex, but no one has seen them for over a year. If you borrowed them to use at a family event, please bring them back ASAP. Please also send an email to Tammy Smecker-Hane so she knows they'll be arriving soon and she does not have to buy them again. Thanks!

Spice It Up! Fundraiser Fiesta - June 7

Spice It Up! is this Saturday! We look forward to seeing you! Free childcare is available for kids who need it and there will lawn games for older kids.

The event will begin in the Children’s Center Courtyard at 5 p.m. with a taco truck, drinks and silent auction. Following the auction, we will move into the sanctuary for desserts and a trivia quiz about your fellow congregants. Please bring your smart phone or tablet to scan the QR code and play.

The silent auction is now open on event website! Once you are signed in, click on "Catalog" at the top of the page to view the auction items. Click on any of them to view more details. You will see some are "buy now" items with a set price and others are traditional auctions where you can view the starting/current bid and enter your bid. Please note that some items in the catalog are for individual guests while others are for two guests. Please read the item description carefully to ensure you are bidding on an item for two guests if you intend to attend an event with a partner. You will receive an email notification if you are outbid, and can go back to the website to enter a new bid. You need not be present to bid.

Thank you for your generosity!

Wear Orange - June 8

Wear orange to Sunday’s service. Wear Orange is dedicated to honoring the lives of people in the United States affected by gun violence and elevating the voices of advocates across the country who are demanding an end to gun violence by taking action.

Wear Orange originated on June 2, 2015. Today, Wear Orange honors the 125 people shot and killed every day in the United States, along with the hundreds more who are wounded and the countless others whose lives have been changed by gun violence.

You Can Donate Using Zelle

If you wish to make regular payments on your pledge or even if you want to make a one-time donation to the Church, you can do so through your bank by using Zelle. The advantage of using Zelle is that there are no transaction charges for either you or for the Church and you do not need to write a check each time to mail or deliver to the Church. If you wish to set up a payment through Zelle from your bank account, the destination of your payment is office@standrewsirvine.org and the payee is St. Andrew’s. If you haven’t made a donation through Zelle before, you can use the QR code to get started. If you have questions please contact Kim at the office to assist you.

Pray for Peace in the Holy Land

The Rt. Rev. John Harvey Taylor asks us to pray for peace and keep in our hearts the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem and its archbishop, the Rt. Rev. Hosam Naoum. Bishop Taylor has written to him on our diocese’s behalf and invites us to make a gift to the American Friends of the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem, which supports the Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City. Archbishop Naoum calls on all to unite in prayer for reconciliation.
