Sunday, January 11, 2026, 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. The First Sunday after Epiphany
- Join us for Holy Eucharist. The service will be available at 10:00 a.m. streaming on YouTube. To get to the YouTube livestream, click here. Once there, you’ll want to click on subscribe, so that you’re always set to go. You can also get there by going to the St. Andrew's website by clicking here and clicking on the YouTube icon at the top right hand side of the page (the red rectangle with a white arrow inside). The service bulletin may be accessed here or by clicking the image of the cover.
| |
Climate Connections: As a way to reduce paper consumption, please consider downloading the bulletin and reading it on your device during the service. | | | | |
We will be printing fewer bulletins in an effort to reduce our carbon footprint. We realize that using a device to read the bulletin may be a daunting task, but we have several congregants who are ready to help if you need it. If we are able to purchase less paper over time, we will donate the savings to our outreach efforts. If you don’t have a device to use, but are willing to share a bulletin with your neighbor, that helps us reach our goal too.

Sunday School News
Day care for infants and children 4 yrs old and younger during the 10 a.m. service will be provided by Samira Sameni, a preschool teacher at our Saint Andrew’s Children’s Center. Sunday School is designed for children in grades K-6 and is led by Tammy Smecker-Hane during the 10 a.m. service. Drop off for both is in the Kangaroo Room of the Children’s Center, whose entrance is accessible from the courtyard to the left of the Children’s Center’s front door (follow the sign). We will bring the children to you in church during the Announcements.
In Sunday School we are celebrating the Epiphany, commemorating the three wise men’s visit to Jesus in Bethlehem bringing their gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh, and the children will be celebrating with a party that includes a pinata, games and delicious food! If you have any questions about Sunday School please email Tammy.

Youth Group is designed for youths ages 12 and up and is led by Hank Caprini during the 10 a.m. service. Youth group meets in the second Children's Center courtyard, whose entrance is visible from the church entrance on the left side of the Children's Center building. The children will be brought to church during the Announcements.
If youths who are acolyting or in the choir wish to join the Youth Group for the latter part of the meeting, they should leave the church after the Gospel reading.
This week in Youth Group we will be discussing the only mention of Jesus as a child within the bible. We are not privy to the years directly after his birth, but this story shows us how Jesus had divine knowledge as a child before his ministry started. It also shows that even the Son of God gave his earthly parents trouble. If there is additional time we will also discuss the first recorded miracle of Jesus, which took place at the wedding in Cana.
| | Vestry, Deanery 10, Diocesan Delegates | | If you are interested in serving as a member of the Vestry, a Deanery 10 Representative, or a Diocesan Delegate, please contact Peter Browning. We will be voting for these positions during the Annual Meeting. | | Annual Meeting - February 1 | | We will have one service at 9:00 a.m. on February 1. After the service we will hold our annual meeting. Mark your calendars now! | | |
Very soon after the holidays, the Families Forward pantry begins to empty quickly. And so, for the month of January, we will be collecting soup cans until Souper Bowl Sunday on February 8th. There will be a large 30-gallon bin in the Narthex for the soup donations. Let’s see if we can surpass the 500 cans that we collected last year.
Don’t forget to mark your calendar for February 8th to enjoy a bowl of soup and treats and fellowship after the 10:00 a.m. service.
If you have any questions, please contact Grace.

We are looking for additional Ushers in 2026. If you would like to join this rewarding mission, please contact Tom Pietryga. This would only involve one Sunday per month and training will be provided. The service needs these 5 activities:
- Arrive 15 minutes early to hand out bulletins
- Select someone to bring up the oblations
- Pass the collection plate at the offertory and bring plates to the alter
- Usher people up to communion
- Walk the chairs and pick up any extra bulletins
For those wanting to be more involve with St. Andrew's, this is usually a good place to start. As you have observed, couples are certainly welcome to volunteer and work the same Sunday.
| | Climate Evensong - January 11 | | |
Climate Evensong - to mark the one-year anniversary of the Eaton and Palisades Fires.
This newly created Climate Evensong, inspired by the vision of Dr. Lucy Jones, will be held on January 11, 2026, 5pm, at All Saints Church in Pasadena. The service will be an opportunity to gather in lament for the losses in the fires, in hope for resilience in the ongoing recovery, and in commitment to action to reverse the damage to our world.
The service will be framed within the traditional Anglican liturgy of Choral Evensong and is a joint offering of the Bishop's Commissions on Climate Change and Liturgy & Music of the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles. It is our hope that the service will invite all into a musical and meditative sound bath to find stillness and experience God’s grace. All are welcome, in person or via livestream. A reception will follow.
| Woodbridge Manor - January 12 | | |
Woodbridge Manor volunteers will meet on January 12 at 10:30 a.m. We need empty 1 dozen cardboard egg cartons (not plastic) and small plastic fruit boxes (like the ones blueberries raspberries come in). These may be brought to church and left in the Narthex. For more information contact Catherine Sharbaugh.

| | Pray for Peace in the Holy Land | | The Rt. Rev. John Harvey Taylor asks us to pray for peace and keep in our hearts the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem and its archbishop, the Rt. Rev. Hosam Naoum. Bishop Taylor has written to him on our diocese’s behalf and invites us to make a gift to the American Friends of the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem, which supports the Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City. Archbishop Naoum calls on all to unite in prayer for reconciliation. | | Stay Connected with St. Andrew's | |
