A Note from Hannah

What an amazing Ministry Fair!!! I had so much fun seeing our parish hall filled with so many thoughtfully decorated tables displaying the good work that’s going on in the life of our community. Parish Life committee showed what they can do, not only on their table, but on the tables of all who came to eat a delicious breakfast. Thanks to everyone who cooked and prepared the parish hall for a beautiful morning! The Library Committee brought books, the Foyer group set a table, the Altar Guild had a vested stack, Mahjong brought mahjong tiles, Children and Youth had stickers, the Young Entrepreneurs sold 3D-printed items and origami, and every group represented showed such creativity and care. Everyone who worked a table at the fair and everyone who was behind the scenes gave us a great gift—thank you again! A special congratulations and shoutout to Robert Jordan for winning ministry fair bingo, and well done to everyone who played: we learned what the aumbry is, who visited the beach this summer, who in the parish is left handed, and so much more.

This great morning got me excited for our next big gathering in the Parish Hall: our Parish Picnic and Kickoff on Sunday, September 13. The choir returns, the parish life committee is cooking up some delicious fried chicken, children’s Sunday school resumes, and we will celebrate the start of a new programmatic year. Mark your calendar and get ready to join us for another great morning together.

We will have our usual services at 8:00AM and 10:30AM this Sunday, but no Sunday School in between. The office will be closed on Monday in observance of Labor Day.

See you soon!

You might see one of our children snapping photos around Saint Anne's. Armed with a couple of brightly colored cameras (not cell phones!), the kids are offering their perspective on our time together on Sunday mornings. Here's what they saw last Sunday:

A BIRTHDAY PRAYER

O God, our times are in your hand: Look with favor, we pray, on your servants as they begin another year. Grant that they may grow in wisdom and grace, and strengthen them to trust in your goodness all the days of their life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

If your birthday is next week and you're not listed, please let us know of our oversight!

Dear Saint Anne’s Parishioners,

Thank you for the incredible support you have given to the outdoor projects. Total parishioner giving exceeded $500,000! These donations came from current Day School families, alumni and their families, former Day School educators, grandparents, and friends. But even with these other relationships to the school, what is true of all of these donors is that they are Saint Anne’s parishioners. This remarkable amount raised in such a short period of time speaks to the strength and generosity of the parish.

Today, as I searched through some old records, I found documents for Day School building and playground projects dating back to the early 1990s. What is amazing is how many of the names on those documents, those who supported the school's and the church’s growth over thirty years ago, are the same people who are on the list of current supporters. These are people who have given substantial amounts of time, talent, and treasure to this parish and its ministries for decades. This tremendous level of commitment speaks to the faith that the members of this parish have in the work being done and its impact on the community.

The amount raised for these projects not only reflects the love for and relationships built at the Day School and Church, but is also only possible because of them. Thank you to everyone in the parish for your gifts of time, talent, and treasure for this project and all of the projects in the past. I am deeply grateful to serve in such a wonderful community and for the opportunity to be part of growth that will have an impact for decades to come.

We will continue our fundraising efforts with an announcement at Day School Parent Night in a couple of weeks, as we still have work to do to reach our original goal, which includes a maintenance fund and endowed funds for educator professional development. If you have not given yet and would like to support these projects, please use the button below. Thanks again.

Most sincerely,

Rhonda Mitchell

Day School Director

No auditions! Join the choir!

There are groups for all ages and skill levels: see the descriptions below. All rehearsals will begin in September.

ADULT CHOIR: Rehearses Wednesdays from 7:30 – 9:00 PM and is open to high school age through adults. We sing most Sundays for the 10:30 AM service as well as special services and Diocesan events, and are joined by members of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra for our Christmas Eve service. First rehearsal: September 9.

We have three choirs for children and youth. All choirs receive choir pins based on the national Choristers Guild curriculum, with jewels added for years of service. In addition, each choir participates in an Awards Ceremony each year. Children who have soccer/sports practices on rehearsal days are welcome to join us in November.

PRIMARY CHOIR: Rehearses Tuesdays from 4:30 – 5:15 PM and is open to grades K – 1 (must be 5 years old by Sept. 1). Songs and rhythmic movement, percussion instruments, and musical games. First rehearsal: September 15.

JUNIOR CHOIR: Rehearses Wednesdays from 4:30 – 5:15 PM and is open to grades 2 – 5. Simple part-singing, percussion instruments and the use of handbells and handchimes! First rehearsal: September 16.

YOUTH CHOIR: Open to all singers and instrumentalists in grades 6 – 12. Because our youth have very busy schedules we will meet in September and set a rehearsal schedule together. Our first organizational meeting will be Sunday, Sept 27 at 11:45 AM (right after church). This year, in addition to singing, we are going to do some bell ensemble work so that we can play pieces that are just for bells rather than only ringing while we sing. If you have friends who might like to do this, please have them come to our first rehearsal – they don’t need to be members of St. Anne’s. The more people we have, the more different sizes of bells we can ring, including the very small and very large ones!

“This sounds great, but I can’t sing…”???
No problem! For you we have:

HANDBELL CHOIR: Rehearses Tuesdays from 7:00 – 8:00 PM. Open to high school age through adults. We play approximately four times a year as well as for Christmas and Easter services. Music reading is desirable but not mandatory. First rehearsal: September 15.

For more information or to sign up, please contact our music director Dr. Joyce Schemanske at 404-237-5589 ext. 132 or jschemanske@saintannes.com. You can also sign up at the Ministry Fair this Sunday.

Foyer Dinner Group are forming - join for food and fellowship!

It’s Time to Sign Up for Foyers!

Foyers (from the French word “foier” meaning “hearth” or “home”) is a way to foster connectivity among parishioners in a smaller setting of our larger, parish-wide events. We invite you to join a group.

Groups are usually six to eight people and meet for dinner in each other’s homes throughout the year. The meals do not need to be fancy, and the group decides on the meeting schedule. One person from each group will be asked to act as the convener and contact the rest of the group to schedule the first dinner at his or her home.

If you'd like to join a group, please sign up using the button below or in the Narthex after a service. The last day to sign up is Sunday, September 27. We hope you’ll join a group – it is a fun and easy way to get to know other parishioners!

INTERFAITH DIOLOGUE OPPORTUNITY

Sunday, October 18 | 4-6 PM
Ahavath Achim Synagogue

At a moment when antisemitism is rising at alarming levels and divisions between communities too often deepen misunderstanding and fear, this conversation seeks to offer something different: an opportunity for honest dialogue, shared learning, and relationship-building rooted in mutual respect and moral courage.

Grounded in decades of Christian-Jewish engagement and inspired by the transformative legacy of Nostra Aetate, this program will explore how education, faith, building bridges, and personal connections help move us toward meaningful action and solidarity.

Hannah and Buddy are bringing a group from Saint Anne's to this discussion. Please reach out to Hannah (hkelly@saintannes.com) if you'd like to join the group.

Volunteers Needed:

Help with Urban Recipe

Helping Urban Recipe by being a welcome volunteer is an any-age, welcoming place to donate a bit of your time this summer and to learn more about our Saint Anne’s partnership!

Members of the food co-op, Urban Recipe, meet every other week at Saint Anne's to unload, sort and pack food to take home. A coordinator from Urban Recipe is onsite each time, but we need a Saint Anne's member to serve as a sort of host: unlocking and locking doors, greeting the coordinator and members, and, mostly, being a warm and welcoming presence.

Dedicate altar flowers to someone you love.

HONOR A LOVED ONE WITH SUNDAY ALTAR FLOWERS

The flowers on the Altar each Sunday not only honor our creator God but may also give thanks for or remember loved ones. If you would like to make a donation for Altar flowers in honor, thanksgiving or remembrance, please email or call Hala in the church office (hwhite@saintannes.com | 404-237-5589).

We give thanks for gifts totaling $92,499.80 in July. Memorial and other designated gifts given for specific ministries are not included in this number. Questions? Contact David Hendee, chair of the Finance Committee, at 404-668-0715-0242 or Mike Dunlap, Treasurer, at 404-536-7505.

We are grateful for your support for Saint Anne’s and our ministry of seeking and serving Christ in the world.
