Dear Saxe Gotha Church Family,
The Annual Missions Garage Sale will be held on Saturday, May 21 from 7:00 am - 1:00 pm. The congregation is invited to shop early on Friday, May 20 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. You won’t want to miss all of the great deals!
In addition to shopping at the sale, you can help in the following ways:
-
Donate your unused items: Monday, May 16 - Thursday, May 19 from 12:00 - 8:00 pm. We will not take donations on Friday, May 20. We will have a drive thru drop off with volunteers to help you unload. If you have larger items, that you can’t get to church yourself, call Pete Eckert at 803-608-9835 for pick up service. We have a Mobile Attic storage unit at the church if you can’t keep your items until May 16. We will be accepting gently used and clean clothing, jewelry, household and kitchen items, children’s toys and equipment, furniture, antiques and collectables, tools and sports equipment, holiday decorations, linens and bedding, books, CD’s, DVD’s and “big ticket items” like vehicles and boats. We will not accept mattresses, weapons, large console TV’s or large computers. Please make sure your items are clean and in good working condition.
-
Sign up to volunteer: Monday, May 16 - Friday, May 20 from 12:00 - 8:00 pm and on Saturday (Sale Day), May 21 from 7:00 am - 4:00 pm by clicking here. We have evening hours to enable those who work days to be able to volunteer. We hope parents/grandparents will bring their children, who are age appropriate, to come and work alongside of them and learn the value of community service work for the Lord. In years past, we have heard many positive comments from folks who have shopped at our sale. Most of them mentioned how well organized everything has been. It takes well over 100 people working for many hours to get the Light House ready, and we need your help. Come join the fun!
This year, our Garage Sale will benefit local and international missions, including a portion that will be utilized to support the Youth Jamaica Missions trip.
We hope to see you soon!
Thank you,
Kathy Seymour

Read this Amazing Testimony:
Rev. James Aleyi –
Follows God’s Direction
Raised in a non-Christian family, kidnapped as a child to become a boy soldier, Rev. James became a Christian and found his calling while being trained as a soldier. He rejected the offer to immigrate to America to serve the people of South Sudan. Ordained in 2012, he rose to become the Moderator of Eastern Jonglei Presbytery (EJP) in 2022. Rev. James is the administrator of SGPC’s Education, Peacebuilding and Humanitarian programs in Pibor and EJP. Supporting men like Rev. James is a key goal of our Change for South Sudan Ministry. To support this ministry, please pray and give online: saxegotha.org/give.

Current Sermon Series -
On a Mission
What do you do after Easter?
What did Jesus’ followers do after he ascended into heaven?
They went on a mission! Jesus described that mission when he said to his followers, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” In this new sermon series entitled “On a Mission,” we will study the Acts of the Apostles. This is Luke’s second letter to a man name Theophilus that records how the early followers of Jesus continued the mission of Christ by spreading the good news of salvation under the power of the Holy Spirit. The ministry of Jesus did not stop when he ascended into heaven; it continues through his followers-including us!

Donations to the Ukraine
Saxe Gotha is collecting monetary donations to aid those in the Ukraine. Please donate during the worship services by writing a check with Ukraine in the memo line (you can specify which organization in the memo line) or online below. All donations will be given to Samaritan's Purse, Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, and The Outreach Foundation.
Here are the specific uses of the funds:
- Samaritan's Purse is focused on medical work in the western city of Lviv and its surrounding area.
- Presbyterian Disaster Assistance is still getting ready to help and appears to be oriented toward supporting Action By Christians Together (ACT) which is a joint effort of many denominations with offices in Switzerland and administered by Norwegian Church Aid.
- The Outreach Foundation is sending money weekly to church partners in Ukraine (Lviv), Poland and Lithuania.
