Private Prayer Every Sunday
Sometimes it is good to be able to share our prayer concerns with another Christian. That's what the after-service Prayer Room (#111, next to the nursery) is all about. If you want to share a prayer concern for yourself or someone you love, there will be a Stephen Minister waiting for you!
Remember Christ said,
"For where two or three gather in my name,
there am I with them."
Matt. 18:20

This is the last week to shower our new and expecting moms with diapers and wipes! Britta Hall, Beverly McGhee, Amy Wright, and Kristen Ellsworth are expecting; Nicole Weiss recently gave birth!
There is a table in the Narthex to collect wipes and
all sizes
of diapers, not just newborn. They grow so fast! We will split the diapers and wipes between the moms. Thank you.

This and That...
Can You Can?
Thank you Richard Morgan and Elvin Carlson for volunteering to take our cans to the recycle facility!
Finance Chairman
Gary Conway will be hard to replace, but please consider filling this role for St. Luke. Talk to Kent Anderson, Jim Allay, or Pastor Cliff to learn more about this position.
Are there any Scrap Bookers out there?
We need someone to take pictures of our members and update the photo directory in the Narthex. This takes very little time and it's fun! Please let the office know if you can help with this.
Help Wanted
We are in need of several additional Good Stewards:
Offering Counters and Weekly Good Stewards Reminders (contact Patti in the office).

Confirmation Student Outings in July
We have two outings planned for our confirmands in July to help give them an insight into poverty in Memphis as well as Christian solutions to live out Jesus' Great Commission, including the Trinity feeding program and the Church Health Ctr. It will also give them a good base of Lutheran baptismal doctrine in a fun setting with their peers from other area ELCA churches.
On Tuesday, July 9, we will depart St. Luke Lutheran Church for downtown Memphis. We will ride the trolley downtown, visit the Civil Rights Museum, visit the Slave Haven/Underground Railroad, and eat lunch. The total cost per student is no more than $40. Parents and Mentors are welcome to attend as chaperones at your own cost. If your child requires confidential financial assistance please
contact Pastor Monica
. We will return to St Luke/Epiphany late in the afternoon for parent pickup.
On Wednesday, July 10, we will meet at Epiphany Chapel at 8:15am, drive to Crosstown Concourse for a guided tour of the Church Health Center, then drive to Peace Lutheran to serve a hot lunch to homeless persons as part of
Peace Lutheran/Trinity Ministries' regular lunch program (we will eat lunch together with them and then clean up - confirmands can obtain service hours for this).
After cleanup we will gather with the Peace confirmation students for an introduction to the Affirmation of Baptism Rite and God's promises, plus snack time. Pastor Cliff, Pastor Tonie and Pastor Monica will lead the session and the students will have plenty of activities and discussion. We will return to the Chapel no later than 4pm on Wednesday for parent pickup. There is
no cost to students for the Wednesday programming
.
Please RSVP to Pastor Monica
as soon as possible for these two day sessions, and contact her for any questions. Participation is strongly encouraged.

Take Out Church kits are available in the Narthex
! Take Out Church is a way for your family
to bring your faith life with you on summer vacation. In this kit are ways that you can worship God, grow as disciples, and love your neighbors. Just as we do on Sunday mornings, you will have opportunities for laughter and fellowship, to praise God, pray, hear God's word, give thanks, and serve. Through it all we want you to take Jesus with you. Included in your kit will be a Flat Jesus. This summer, let's send Flat Jesus to every corner of the world! Let Flat Jesus be a reminder of Jesus's real presence in every place we find ourselves and as a fun reminder to help others encounter God. Take Flat Jesus with you on all of your summer adventures and take your picture with him. Share the pictures on our Facebook page (@StLukeMemphis) using the hashtag #StLukeELCAFlatJesus or email them to
[email protected]

Family Promise Hosting, July 7-14
Our Family Promise guests will be at St. Luke soon!
Family Promise is a highly successful organization solving homelessness in Memphis on the front lines. Please consider being part of this solution at your very own church as we host our families from Sunday, July 7 through Sunday, July 14. There are many volunteer opportunities for everyone - day hosts, dinner hosts, overnight hosts, meal preparations. No job is insignificant in the difference it makes in the lives of our guests. Please prayerfully consider how you can be involved in this life-changing ministry!.
Please see Vikki Ernst, Dan Oakley or Jim Allay for additional information.

Tidbits of the Week 6/16
Holy Trinity Sunday: John 16: 12-15
Noon Prayer Service: join us this Wednesday, June 19 th at Heart of God church on Rock Creek Parkway for a worship service. This will be a great way to join our neighbors in prayer.
Christian Mystery: Pastor TroyAnn Poulopoulos gave a wonderful sermon on the difficult concept of the Holy Trinity, for how does one explain the "One God, yet Three in One?" The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are equally God, and have been for all time. Neither Jesus nor the Holy Spirit are subordinate to God, they ARE God. Jesus is fully God, and fully human, another mystery. To many, this is very confusing. The Trinity is the source of perfect love, which Jesus showed us. Jesus and His Father, Abba, lead us in truth. God gives, as God does. The Spirit moves the universe, from the beginning, and still moves us in creation today. The Trinity is an unexpected God: loving, not just powerful, mysterious but true.
Many thanks to Bev for helping with our music, Sunday. There is a perfect example of the Holy Spirit in actions! Feel better, Amy!!!
We need someone to take our aluminum cans to the recycling plant in North Memphis and if the spirit moves you, we need someone to remove all those pesky tabs and give them to Grace Entwistle. (Thank you Richard Morgan and Elvin Carlson for volunteering to do this!)
Shutterbug wanted: the photo gallery notebook in the Narthex is in desperate need of an update. This takes very little time and is so helpful to everyone, especially guests and new members.

Facilities Maintenance Log
We have a log book available in the office for you to note any maintenance needs you come across in the church!
In Mac's mailbox (our Sexton) is a binder called
"Facilities Maintenance Log". Inside you can write what the issue is, where it is, who reported it and the date. Mac will check to see if there are needs he should attend to, and note when they are completed.
Thanks for helping keep St. Luke "spiffy"!
