Transition News!
Planning for the arrival of our new rector continues apace. The Transition Team is preparing a welcome book, full of helpful information for Andrew, and the Team is pleased that Andrew and Olly have found a place to live in Palm Desert. The vestry and wardens will have further discussion at their meeting next week, including plans for a Celebration of a New Ministry later this year or early in 2021, and meanwhile, Interim Rector Kathleen Kelly continues to lead us until July 31 when she will hand off the care of  St. Margaret's to Andrew.

Compassion & Social Justice Ministry
We, the Compassion and Social Justice Ministry Team at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church, feel the need to speak to the multiple pandemics we are facing as a country and world today-the coronavirus pandemic, the racial pandemic, and the economic pandemic.
We want to point to many resources available to all of us who wish to have an impact in some way that not only reflects our SME Covenant, but goes beyond to action-joining with others in our communities and our churches to think about, talk about, and take action aimed at the concerns of the day.
  1. Information about Sacred Ground-A Journey of Learning and Healing is available at www.edsd.org.  People around our diocese are sharing that this program is the best thing they have ever done.  It challenges, enlightens and enriches. We hope many in our parish will want to participate in Sacred Ground groups, using this resource. We claim diversity is a great strength.  Deep sharing of differing experiences taps that strength and makes us all better.  This is a ten-session series built around a powerful curriculum of documentary film and readings that focus on Indigenous, Black, Latino and Asian/Pacific American histories as they intersect with European American histories.
Watch for announcements about St. Margaret's launch of this important initiative which will include ways for parishioners to get involved.
  2. "Stay Alive, Stay at Home, Organize:  Rev. William Barber Sets June 20th for Poor People's digital March on DC.  Read about it and join us at www.democracynow.org.  On this site, you will find many other wonderful resources and daily talks sharing the news and events of the day.  Check it out.
  3. View the recent video of Bishop Susan Brown Snook's talk on https://youtu.be/R046WFDvAA4 .  She makes a powerful statement that should inspire us all.  You might visit her blog also on www.edsd.org.
  4. Many relevant books are available and more being written, but one we have read recently is most significant.  It is White Fragility by Robin Diangelo.  We plan a book study on this in the coming year.
  5. Make sure to watch Oprah Winfrey's "Where Do We Go From Here?" on Youtube.  https://youtu.be/09ysfL2SlHo  https://youtu.be/1jy6LpivqIM
These are just a few of the MANY resources available to us.  If you have some additional "bests" you'd like to share, please let us know.  We intend to provide periodic updates throughout this summer season and hope to see you in person later this year.
Ellie Millam & Marlynn May, Conveners of the Compassion & Justice Ministry Team

Neighbors-4-Neighbors UPDATE!
Miracles continue to happen every Tuesday at  St. Margaret's through Neighbors 4 Neighbors. We desperately want to keep the doors open and the carts moving, knowing that many of our clients have depended on the jobs hardest hit during the pandemic closures. With so many facing hardship, the number served has generally doubled from what was typical before. And while many regular volunteers must stay away during sheltering, new ones have appeared. God continues to provide and make the seemingly impossible possible. Thank you Chet Hecht and all our volunteers and contributors!

How can you help? Do you know someone healthy enough to safely volunteer? We have strict procedures in place to protect volunteers and clients. Can you make a special contribution to help with this vital Outreach?   Please respond generously by sending an offering with N4N on the memo line. Or use the easyTithe link on the homepage of www.stmargarets.org and note your purpose.

Please note: due to our volunteer and space constraints, we are unable to accept clothing at
this time.
Let's Share Some Selfies
We are all missing each other, so let's share some photos to bridge the distance as we shelter-in-place. Email us fun photos of what you and/or your pets are doing while in  quarantine. We'll share them and put together a slide show. Email them to  Debby at  debbyj@stmargarets.org
Zoom with Us!
If you would like to join a weekly Zoom group to share about how the weekly sermon or daily reflections connect with your life, please respond to  kathleenk@stmargarets.org.  Zoom tutorials will be available! If you would like to facilitate a group, please let that be known as well. Seasonals who are now in the east have asked for a group meeting early in the day west coast time, so please consider that option.
New Forward Day by Day Devotional Booklets
Even though we are not in church together, you can still access the new Forward Day by Day devotional booklets.  The online version is available on their website www.prayer.forwardmovement.org , or contact Debby for help, and she will be sure you get one!  Debbyj@stmargarets.org
Parishioner Database Updates
Debby is busy working on updating our database and we want to include an updated photo of you! Just email any favorite snapshot to Debby: debbyj@stmargarets.org . Have an updated phone number, address or email? Send those updates too!
