CALL FOR NOMINATIONS TO VESTRY
|
If you are interested in serving on the vestry the deadline for applications is December 7th 2020. Completed Applications should be emailed or sent directly to Debby Jansma at the church office. Her contact information is on the application.
Applications are available by clicking here or contact Debby. The application outlines eligibility, desirable qualities in candidates and expectations of vestry members.
Vestry members are the legal representatives of the parish. They are charged with specific responsibilities by the canons of The Episcopal Church and function in ways that are similar to the boards of nonprofit organizations in the community. The vestry follows The Bylaws of St. Margaret’s, and The Constitution and Canons of the Diocese of San Diego. It prayerfully shares responsibility for parish leadership with the rector, under the guidance of the bishop. In concert with the rector the vestry is responsible for sound stewardship of finances, management of property and human resources. Vestry members have a role in helping discern where God is calling St. Margaret’s. Members serve as liaisons to every aspect of program, worship and outreach at
St. Margaret’s and work to ensure good communication which contributes to heathy, spiritually sound, governance. A commitment to individual spiritual growth and ministering to the needs of others is essential.
There are four seats with three-year terms and one with a one-year term to the filled by vote of the Members of the parish at the St. Margaret’s Annual Meeting on Sunday February 7th at 1 p.m. Details on the Annual Meeting will follow.
If you have questions or would like to discuss vestry nominations further feel free to contact any member of the Nominating Committee.

Neighbors-4-Neighbors (N4N)
|
|
The N4N program assists our neighbors in need with food, clothing and other basic life necessities. Before COVID-19, we were helping approximately 400 families per week. Then, overnight, we needed to reinvent how to continue to help in a safe manner. The first few weeks we were assisting over 800 families each week, and doing so with strict procedures in place for masks and safe distancing. Currently, we are assisting over 600 families (2500 people) each week.
To our partners, the USDA, and the FIND Foodbank, and an amazing team of volunteers who are working tirelessly to keep this ministry thriving, and all those who have supported us financially and spiritually, thank you! Thanks to you all, we are continuing to be God’s hands here in this community.
How You Can Help
-
Donate- A special offering designated to Neighbors-4-Neighbors will help us continue to help others in need. You can send your generous gift by mail, with N4N in the memo line, or by using the “Donate Now” button on the SMEC website at stmargarets.org. Food and clothing donations can be dropped off Mondays from 10am-2pm.
- Volunteer- Volunteers are the lifeblood of this program, and we are constantly needing new volunteers to share the load. We follow strict guidelines for health and safety.
- Pray- We can never have enough prayers… for health, for safety, for bountiful food donations, and plenty of volunteers.
