Dear Parishioners and Friends,
"Out of the deep have I called unto thee, O Lord; Lord, hear my voice." Psalm 130:1
We hear a lot about the "peak" of the current pandemic, but for many of us it feels like the deepest depths. A lot of us are praying more than we ever have, "Lord, hear my voice; let the cry of my supplication come unto thee." In the midst of singing "Jesus Christ is risen today," we must also sing out the Kontakion for the dead: "Give rest, O Christ to thy servants with thy saints..."
Every day seems to roll out like a disaster in slow motion. Every day everything changes. When our instinct is to come together, we must respond from afar in the best way that we can. We pray online, leave groceries and medications on doorsteps, and even recently helped to remove a tree that had fallen on a house.
I think it is safe to say that we are all doing our best in these times that are unprecedented in living memory. It is gladdening to see how people are giving one another a little extra leeway when it comes to each individual's manner of coping with this trauma. I've been the recipient of this grace a few times now. It is encouraging to hear "thank you" being said for small blessings and things that otherwise would be taken for granted. And it is life-affirming to learn just how interconnected we are, in spite of "social distancing."
And while I long for the day when we return to the physical St. Mary's Church and the swells of the great organ, trumpet, and choir singing Te Deum Laudamus, for now our life together goes on in a different way. Like the ancient Israelites, we are strangers in a strange land. Still, we are St. Mary's, and to quote the hymn, "...and from morn till set of sun, through the Church, the song goes on." Alleluia! Christ is risen!

. St. Mary’s needs you, and this is yet another way “to contribute to the needs of the saints,” as St. Paul said.

Easter arrived at St. Mary's-in-Tuxedo and across much of Christendom last Sunday (note: the Eastern Orthodox celebrate on April 19th). As our Presiding Bishop said in his
Easter sermon
, "It's Easter Sunday, it doesn't look like it, it doesn't smell like it, and it doesn't really feel like it, but it's Easter anyway." Christ has risen from the grave, trampling down death by death, and to those within the tombs bestowing life. Please visit our

It is with great sorrow that I announce the death of Pam Cromey
.
The beloved wife of our Rector Emeritus, Father Ed, she is survived by him and a large extended family. A resident of Tuxedo Park for over forty years, her unflappable personality, dry wit, and true kindness will be missed by all who knew her.
Pam loved Tuxedo and was actively involved at St. Mary's, as well as the Tuxedo Park Garden Club and the Tuxedo Club. Her door was always open, welcoming friends old and new into her home.
On a personal note, Pam was among the very first people to welcome us to Tuxedo, and I will always be grateful for how she went out of her way to help us transition to our new home. "Honey, come sit with me," she would say. She had the strength of a Viking, but the heart of a mother.
Due to the current crisis, we are unable to gather together to honor her memory at the church, but until we can, will will keep her and Fr. Ed in our hearts and prayers. When memorial arrangements can be made, more information will be made available.
May Pam's soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, Rest In Peace. Amen.
