Dear Parishioners and Friends,
One of the major feasts of the Church which sometimes gets lost in the dolours of Lent is the Annunciation, March 25. Exactly nine months before Christmas, we commemorate the moment when God's plan for the salvation of mankind broke through eternity and entered our temporality. The consubstantial and coeternal Word of God was made flesh of the Virgin Mary his mother.
"In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. And he came to her and said, ‘Greetings, favoured one! The Lord is with you.’ But she was much perplexed by his words and pondered what sort of greeting this might be. The angel said to her, ‘Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favour with God. And now, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you will name him Jesus." Luke 1:26-31
In a single moment of grace, our Lady changed the course of history with her "yes" to God's plan. Or in a more poetic form, "be it unto me according to God's word." From her example, we can be challenged to take our own part in God's plan. Though he may not have something as momentous in mind for you or me, nevertheless we are his disciples and the workers in his vineyard. As Mary bore Jesus in her womb, let us pray that we will have the grace to bear him in our hearts, offering his grace and love to the world in our own time.
Blessings,
Father Rick

Two of the delights of Easter at St. Mary's are the lovely Easter lilies and the addition of a brass quintet to our wonderful choir and organ. This extraordinary greeting of our risen Lord occurs separately from our ordinary budget. The cost is approximately $3000, and it all depends on your generosity. If you would like to participate in making all this happen and honor or remember someone on this great festive day, please make a donation as soon as possible by using the link below (choose fund designation of Holiday Flowers and Music), envelopes provided in the church, or sending a check to St. Mary's (memo line: Easter flowers/music). Names of all those remembered/honored received by Monday, April 15, will appear in the Easter bulletins and the following Sunday as we enjoy the lilies for two weeks.

Over the past year, we've realized that our various lists of parishioners and friends at St. Mary's are not up to date. It is very important that we have the most accurate contact information for you (especially emails and mobile phone numbers), because we want to be sure we can reach you in times of need, but also to make sure you receive proper invites to parish events! Please take a moment to update your contact information for our parish directory and rest assured that we will never release personal information to any outside organization.
