From the Rector
Dear Parishioners and Friends,

"God has gone up with a shout, the Lord with the sound of the ram's horn."

This is the feast of the Ascension, the day when the Church remembers Jesus' return to heaven. His work on earth completed, having died and been resurrected from the dead, our Lord went back to the Father from whence he came. He appeared numerous times to his disciples after his resurrection, assuring them again and again that the promise had been fulfilled, and that his time with them was growing short. But he did not leave them comfortless. He promised that shortly after his return, he would send the Holy Spirit, who would guide them into all truth and remind them of all the things he taught them.

Even armed with this knowledge and their faith, I imagine that it must have been an astounding thing to see the Lord taken up as he was. Most of us would likely have had the same reaction of awe and simply staring into the sky. Not unlike the scene at the mount of the Transfiguration or at the empty tomb, astounded people like you and me experienced God's glory. And in each case they were told to go! "Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking up toward heaven?" You disciples (then and now) have work to do!

Blessings, Father Rick
Rogation Sunday
On Rogation Sunday, May 26, we processed into the churchyard to bless the grounds and plant a native dogwood tree in thanksgiving for the members of our community who paid the ultimate price in times of war. Pious legend has it that the dogwood was used for the cross of Jesus, and upon his death, it changed into a small gnarled tree so that no cross could ever be made from it limbs again. Please see our Facebook page for photos and video of the event.
Memorial Day in Tuxedo
The Town of Tuxedo Annual Memorial Day Ceremony was held last Monday at St. Mary's with Father Rick as the master of ceremonies. Thank you to everyone who attended this solemn occasion to remember those who gave their lives in service to our country. Please see our Facebook page for  photos of the ceremony as well as video of the National Anthem and Taps , along with photos of the memorials that line the walls of St. Mary's.
SCHC Meeting on June 1st
The Society of the Companions of the Holy Cross, New York Chapter will be at St Mary's for their next meeting on June 1 from 10am to 2pm. All ladies are invited to attend.

The  SCHC  is a diverse group of women, both laypeople and clergy, called to live their lives under a rule of intercessory prayer, thanksgiving and simplicity of life. In 1884 the two founding members Emily Morgan and Adelyn Howard, envisioned a group of women united in prayer and companionship.

Today the SCHC is comprised of about 900 women both from the Episcopal Church and the wider Anglican Communion who pray and work with intentional concern for the unity of all God's people, God's mission in the world, social justice and peace and reconciliation.
Pentecost Sunday, June 9th
On the feast of Pentecost, Sunday, June 9, we will be joined by the Right Rev. Andrew St. John at the 10:00 service. Bishop St. John will preach and offer the rites of confirmation and reception into the Episcopal Church. Please join us and be sure to wear red!
Join us on the experience of a lifetime as we seek to grow in discipleship while walking in the footsteps of Christ. A detailed itinerary is available, along with a way to stay in the loop as the pilgrimage planning progresses.
All are truly welcome at St. Mary's, which is located within the historic gates of Tuxedo Park and serves the entire Tuxedo community. Please tell the gatehouse you're going to St. Mary's, proceed thru the gates and we're on the right (plenty of parking available).
