From the Rector
Dear Parishioners and Friends,

You may know that like many of St. Mary’s past rectors, I am a proud graduate of the General Theological Seminary of the Episcopal Church. Living so close to the city affords me opportunities from time to time to visit my alma mater and participate in programs for students and alumni. On Thursday I will be doing just that by attending the annual service of Evensong and Matriculation, in which incoming students sign their names into a book that has been used for nearly 200 years now. It is always a moving service.

This year’s events are also special because we are recognizing the lifelong service of the Rev. Canon Dr. J. Robert Wright, who was my advisor, and who helped mold generations of priests in this Church. Fr. Wright, as he was known to his students, is also a noted scholar of the Patristic and Medieval periods of the Church, as well as a respected figure in the ecumenical movement.

I give thanks for those mentors and guides who have helped me to become the person I am, and who continue to shape me. And I encourage you to think about those who have had a positive impact on helping you become who you are, and who continue to encourage you on your way.

Blessings, Father Rick
Yard Sale Success!
St Mary’s Yard Sale last weekend raised more than $3,500 to support our outreach programs locally and the orphans we provide for in South Africa! Thank you to everyone who gave of their time and donated items.
Soup for Scholarships this Saturday
Come out for some delicious soup and other goodies this Saturday. And support St. Mary's Community Preschool students while you're at it!
Blessing of the Animals October 6th
In a longstanding Anglican tradition, pets are always welcome in church, but especially on St. Francis Day!

On Sunday, October 6th, we will have a special blessing of the animals during the 10am service, so please bring your furry, feathery, and scaly friends that day. If your pets don't travel well, or you'd like to remember pets who have passed, please bring a photo.

Please join us for this beloved tradition, and bring a friend or two!
Dinner in the Nave
Please join us for a bi-annual tradition, Dinner in the Nave! Note the date for the dinner has been changed -- it will now be held on November 23, 2019.

The pews are removed from the historic nave of the church and a splendid candlelit dinner is served, accompanied by music and an auction of fabulous items!

We are currently seeking donations for the auction, which can include, but are not limited to: art, antiques & jewelry; fine wines & spirits; gift baskets; experiences such as vacation homes, hotel stays, tours, shows or dinners; and services.

Please contact Jane Garofano or email Lisa in the church office (phone is 845.351.5122) if you have any questions or would like to donate an item for the auction.
Walk to End Alzheimer's October 20th
Join our team "Chris’ Crew" with Captain Sally Sonne. Participate in a 2-mile (not very difficult) Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Sunday, October 20, in Rockland County. We hope that you will join the team by walking or donating.

A cure is on the horizon, and, hopefully, will be discovered before we or our children are stricken. Alzheimer’s is truly a sad and devastating condition for the patient and for family and friends. Sally knows that Chris would want to do anything he could to end Alzheimer’s. For her, this walk is to honor him and give hope and help for a cure.

Registration begins at 9am, with a ceremony at 10am and the walk at 10:20am. Location is Palisades Credit Union Park Stadium (Rockland Boulders), Rockland/Pomona, NY.
All are truly welcome at St. Mary's, which is located within the historic gates of Tuxedo Park and serves the entire Tuxedo community. Please tell the gatehouse you're going to St. Mary's, proceed thru the gates and we're on the right (plenty of parking available).
