From the Rector
Dear Parishioners and Friends,

Last Tuesday, we celebrated a bittersweet event at St. Mary's. After being apart for over five months, the four-year-old class of St. Mary's Community Preschool was reunited for our final graduation ceremony. In order to limit the number of people present, only graduates and their families could attend, and all of the same protocols we use on Sunday were followed.

The ceremony was different than usual. We didn't have the 2's and 3's with us, and we couldn't sing like we used to, but still it was wonderful to see the children walk down the long aisle in their white caps to receive their certificates. I was amazed at how much they had grown over the spring and summer!

We are blessed and truly grateful for the many years that Miss Ida and her staff served in this ministry to children, helping them to grow and learn and prepare for "big-kid school." They all did fantastic work, and their love and dedication to the children was always evident.

It is my prayer that all of our graduates and former students will remain strong and healthy, and that their sense of wonder and joy in learning will be their guides as they grow in the midst of a world that is forever changed.

Sloatsburg Food Pantry
The Sloatsburg Food Pantry is open this Tuesday. Tuxedo residents are eligible. More information at www.sloatsburgfoodpantry.org.
September 20th is Episcopal Charities Sunday
Save the Date: October 24th
The Progressive Dinner is a biennial tradition where guests gather for cocktails at one location, and then enjoy a delicious dinner and dessert in the beautiful homes of Tuxedo Park. It is the single biggest fundraiser of the year and all proceeds benefit the many good works of St. Mary’s-in-Tuxedo. Tickets are $175 per person.

CALLING ALL DINNER HOSTS
We are now arranging dinner hosts. If you would like to host, please contact co-chairs Jane Garofano (845.351.5444) or Lili Neuhauser (845.351.0048).

PRECAUTIONS BEING TAKEN
We are changing a few things to better protect everyone, including outdoor cocktails, smaller groupings at dinner (combined with dessert), and more flexibility around house assignments. For example, if you have your own “bubble” of people you’ve been close with, consider making that a dinner group! Please contact co-chairs Jane Garofano (845.351.5444) or Lili Neuhauser (845.351.0048) to discuss seating or if you have any other questions.

The latest information and tickets can be found at www.stmtux.org/progressivedinner.
The Light of Christ
A sanctuary lamp has been hung in the church directly above the tabernacle, where the Blessed Sacrament is kept in reserve. The perpetual light of the lamp reminds us that Jesus is sacramentally present, and calls us to greater reverence for his Body as well as to prayer in his presence.

The glass vigil candles that fit inside the lamp can be given in memory of a loved one, as a petition for some need, or in thanksgiving for answered prayer. Each light burns for an entire week, and the cost is $20. With your donation, please leave a note describing your prayer's intention as well as the week you would like the light to burn. You may donate online or mail a check to St. Mary's-in-Tuxedo, P.O. Box 637, Tuxedo Park, NY 10987.

This week, the sanctuary lamp was given by Harrison Bush in memory of the members and classmates of the Congregation of St. Aidan (Tuxedo Park).
New Outdoor Wednesday Service
The Wednesday 10am service is now open to in-person worshippers. This service of Holy Eucharist is being held outside (bring your own lawn chair) on the rectory lawn (18 Fox Hill Rd); in case of bad weather, we will use the St. Mark's altar in the main church. Please remember that masks and social distance rules apply to all in-person activities at St. Mary's. All services are also online at Facebook (you do not need a Facebook account to participate).
