From the Rector
Dear Parishioners and Friends,

Alleluia! Christ is risen!

Yesterday, amid the daffodils at the rectory, I found myself humming the tune Vruechten, better known to us as "This Joyful Eastertide." The fluttering, joyful melody is reminiscent of the beautiful birdsong which marks this season of new life. Soaring music, whether in church or out in nature, sings out to the whole world that Christ is risen and faith, hope, and love live! Though it may start out as a mere flicker, no darkness can overcome the light of the Resurrection. Christ is risen, trampling down death by death! This is our Easter joy--something to celebrate throughout the great fifty days, and to cherish in our hearts throughout the year.

So much has happened in our world since last Easter. We have gone from total lockdown to a sense of cautious hope as we look toward the light at the end of the tunnel. And while there is still a great deal of uncertainty, we, like those who have gone before us, can draw strength from the power of the Easter message.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this year's observance of Holy Week and celebration of Easter day so meaningful for so many people both here in our community and around the country and world! As we continue the celebration, I will be taking some time off from Saturday, April 10 to Friday, April 16. Fr. Cromey will officiate at the Sunday and Wednesday services, and will be available for any pastoral needs that may arise.

Blessings,
Father Rick

Easter at St. Mary's
The joy of Easter Sunday arrived with our largest in-person congregation since the pandemic began, plus members & friends online from Tuxedo and around the world, all eager to hear the good news of the resurrection! Beautiful flowers and music filled the church, thanks to generous donations in memory and thanksgiving of loved ones (see list below). If you didn't have a chance to join us, please take a moment to view the Easter Sermon now or watch any of the Holy Week and Easter services here. Happy Easter!

Spring Focus on Buildings & Grounds!
I hope some of you will be able to attend the upcoming Buildings & Grounds meeting and/or Spring Cleanup (safely distancing and outdoors!). Fresh eyes often give rise to fresh ideas. Even if you can only spare a few minutes, please come to share your support and camaraderie. Let's take part in the tradition of excellence of our beloved beautiful, historic St. Mary's church! Our Diocese Stands Against Anti-Asian Violence
The past year has seen a deeply troubling rise in violence and hatred directed towards Asians and Asian Americans. On Tuesday, March 23, the Cathedral and Diocesan communities gathered on the front steps of the Cathedral for a service honoring the victims and survivors of anti-Asian violence, recommitting ourselves to equity and denouncing racism in all its forms. Bishops Dietsche, Shin and Glasspool led the service, with Cathedral Dean Daniel offering words of welcome. The bishops' statements and video of the service are available online.
