From the Rector
Dear Parishioners and Friends,

Let me start by saying that I hope you and your loved ones are safe and healthy. This has been two weeks that none of us will soon forget. Perhaps naively, I thought that by this point things would at least be under control and getting better. However it seems that we have only just begun to understand the far-reaching nature of this pandemic. It touches every aspect of our lives, with a personal, emotional, and economic impact not seen in most people’s memory.

I joke about all the “togetherness” getting on my nerves, but in truth Pete and I are both keenly aware of the blessing of being able to shelter in place in a big house with plenty of room outdoors to roam around. Many people, like my sister and brother-in-law are confined to a small apartment in the city. Others are alone in hospitals and nursing homes.

Another huge blessing is being able to work from home and stay out of the way of those who have no choice but to be in the middle of all this. I am praying every day for community members and parishioners past and present who work in the medical or first responder fields, along with all essential workers.

I am very proud of the way that we have rallied together and (following all guidelines) have been meeting the needs of so many people, from delivering food and medicine to virtual worship services. Despite the fact that the church doors are closed, her work continues unabated. I urge you to remember to keep up on your pledges , and if you haven’t yet made one, to do so now . St. Mary’s needs you, and this is yet another way “to contribute to the needs of the saints,” as St. Paul said.

And so I urge you to remain safe and calm. We will come through this stronger than before.

Blessings,

Operation Love Thy Neighbor
In partnership with local civic organizations, St. Mary's Outreach is making sure that no one is forgotten in this time of great crisis and self-isolation. Here is the link to the latest information about how we are helping the Tuxedo community and how to get help.

We are aware of the need for everything from groceries, to medicines, to simple human contact, and we are here for you. For help, call your neighborhood coordinator or email help@stmtux.org . Donations to support our outreach efforts may be made here .

St. Mary's has also been supporting and working with Helping Hands of Rockland County for many years, and were asked to help this week. Thank you to the many people who baked cookies and brownies, then delivered to St Mary's. These were picked up, along with 200 chocolate chip cookies from Dottie Audrey's, to go into the brown bag breakfast/lunch meal Helping Hands is providing for the homeless in Spring Valley. Please see our Facebook page for more info and photos .
Palm Sunday
Palm Cross
Holy Week begins on Palm Sunday with the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, followed by the agony of the Passion that he was about to endure.

Please join us at 10am on April 5th for this service, which will be hosted via Zoom teleconferencing, so that everyone can participate in the reading of the Passion. Please email Pete to volunteer and be assigned a specific part.

Here is the link for the Zoom service , you may want to try it in advance to make sure your computer is set up for Zoom. You may use a smartphone, but it's best to log in from your computer if you want to see everyone else on the call. Remember to save this email and use the link at 10am on Sunday.

Here is the service bulletin so that you may follow along and participate. When it comes time for communion, there's a beautiful act of spiritual communion we will pray together:

"My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen."
