From the Rector
Dear Parishioners and Friends,

On Thursday night, I will return to my alma mater, The General Theological Seminary of the Episcopal Church for solemn evensong and the matriculation of new students. Back in 2004, I was matriculated in the same ceremony, and signed my name into the historic book which contains the names of thousands who have gone before in service to the Church. The book contains the names of numerous rectors of St. Mary's, including Fr. Leo, and Rector Emeritus, Fr. Cromey.

That night began not only three years of study, but a lifetime of interconnection and friendships, and indeed a change in my very identity. Alumni/ae of GTS feel an intense bond with each other, the institution, and the Church it represents. As in parishes throughout the country, our seminaries are also facing a time of adaptation and change. None of this comes easy, and it is certainly not without intense emotion and debate, but our deep loyalty and sense of family remain. That is why I am attending evensong on Thursday, and why the new students and faculty are in my prayers.

In addition to Thursday's service and dinner following, I will attend a seminar on preaching the scriptures of Advent on Friday. I look forward to this time of reconnection and learning, and ask your prayers for General, and all of our seminaries.

Blessings,
Father Rick
Fashion Show Luncheon
Last Saturday's “Pause for a Cause” fashion show luncheon was a great success! Please visit our Facebook page for photos of the event. Thanks to the organizers, especially Sara Cassis, as well as the models, the designers, Lili Neuhauser and all who helped in staging this fête. The new pavilion at Valley Rock Inn provided a fantastic venue for the sold out event!
Window Restoration Begins
WindowDiane

After several days of preparation, Femenella & Associates began the removal of the Andrae memorial window (by Lamb Studios) from the north transept of the church. Please visit our Facebook page for photos of the project.

We are all truly grateful to the donors who made this restoration possible, and hope that their generosity will spur others to consider how they can help preserve the historic fabric of St Mary’s for generations to come.

Progressive Dinner November 3rd
Wall Street titan turned scientist Alfred Lee Loomis created technology in his Tuxedo Park lab that helped turn the tide of WWII. Join us on November 3rd for a benefit where we celebrate this unique part of our heritage and get a glimpse inside the laboratory and home where history was made! Please visit PBS to watch the documentary or the publisher to learn more about the book by Jennet Conant.
All are truly welcome at St. Mary's, which is located within the historic gates of Tuxedo Park and serves the entire Tuxedo community. Please tell the gatehouse you're going to St. Mary's, proceed thru the gates and we're on the right (plenty of parking available).
