We lift up Bianka, Liam, Daniel, Zach, and Alistair in the military. We pray for peace in Sudan, Ukraine, and the Middle East. We pray for those we now name aloud or lift up quietly in our hearts.

The Lenten Gospel of Luke

This Lent (February 18 through Easter on April 5) we will continue exploring the Gospels, moving on to the Gospel of Luke. This is one of the best ways to grow in faith, reading a Gospel account of Jesus’ life. Luke has many unique details including Mary’s perspective and a number of miracles and parables from Jesus. As we continue reading, we will ultimately read of Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection as we enter Holy Week! The series offers the daily opportunity to read, or listen to the Gospel of Luke while the worship services focus on what we have read. On Wednesday evenings we’ll be watching the movie The Gospel of Luke, word for word from the Bible with actors on location acting out the text. Best of all, there will be weekly Bible study groups where you can discuss what you’ve read while making friends. To sign up, please visit StPaulsLionville.org/luke. We hope this series will be a blessing to you!

Scout Sunday

On Sunday, February 8 we will celebrate Scout Sunday.

Members of our Boy Scout Troop will be assisting with the

10:30 am service, and the Boy Scouts will be providing breakfast between the services. Please join us for this special service.

Bring-A-Friend Sunday

We will be celebrating “Bring-a-Friend Sunday” at both services on Sunday, February 15. Please reach out to a friend, family member, or neighbor and invite them to join us at St. Paul’s.

Rejoicing Spirits Service

Our next Rejoicing Spirits service will be on Sunday, February 8 at 4:00 pm. This is an informal, inclusive and adapted service open to all in the community, including those with intellectual and developmental disabilities, regardless of faith background. The service includes joyous music, singing and brief, meaningful, pastor-led sermons.

Monday Morning Bible Study

The Monday morning Bible study group is continuing their overview study on World Religions. They meet on Monday mornings at 10:00 am in room 110 and run through Monday, May 18, 2026. Come when you can! For more information, contact Mary McCormick at Jandmmccormick@yahoo.com.

Rare Birds Pizza and Game Day

The Rare Birds (ages 50+) next meeting will be a pizza and game day in the Fellowship Hall on Tuesday, February 10 at noon. If you’d like to join, please plan to bring a favorite game to share and RSVP to Karen Lammey by Tuesday, February 3.

CPR and AED Training

St. Paul's is hosting CPR and AED training provided by the Uwchlan Ambulance Corp. The training is Sunday, March 15 at 1:00 pm in Classroom 207. Please come learn how to perform CPR and how to use an AED (or for a refresher). The training cost is being covered by St. Paul's. We need to have at least 10 attendees for the Uwchlan Ambulance Corp to provide the training. We are limited to 20 participants so please sign up right away. If you are interested in attending but this date does not work or we already have 20 people signed up, there is a spot on the signup to register your interest in a future session. The deadline to register is Sunday, February 22. The ambulance corp requires that participants be 12 years of age or older. Sign up online here.

Ash Wednesday and Wednesday Lenten Services

Our Lenten journey starts on Wednesday, February 18. We will have worship services at noon and 7:00 pm with Holy Communion and the imposition of ashes. We hope you can attend one of these very special worship services! During the Wednesdays of Lent (February 25-April 1) we will have brief

services at 7 pm which will include The Gospel of Luke movie. More information on the Gospel of Luke Lenten worship series is coming soon.

Pop Up Thrift Store This Weekend

Our next pop up thrift store will be this Saturday and Sunday, February 7 and 8 from 8:00 am - 2:00 pm in the parsonage. Donations, especially of home decor items, are welcome and may be left in the airlock between the two sets of double doors

at the front of the church.

Family Trip to Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area

BACK THIS YEAR! Our family trip to Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area will take place on Saturday, February 21. Meet at St. Matthew's at 7:30 am to travel to Middle Creek (about an hour's drive), or meet us there at the Willow Point Trail parking lot (off Kleinfeltersville Road) for some hiking and exploration. Hopefully we'll get to see some of the amazing snow goose migration that takes place through the area. Bring snacks and water; hot dogs and hot chocolate will be provided. Sign up here to join us!  Weather postponement date will be Saturday, February 28.

Living Love Lunches Supplies

  • Individual bags of chips, pretzels, crackers or cookies
  • Granola bars
  • Individual servings of fruit or applesauce

If you can contribute, put your donation in the bin in the narthex labeled Living Love Lunches. Thank you for helping the homeless in Chester.

Sheets Needed

Sheets are needed for Lutheran World Relief projects. Any size or material. Place your gently used sheets in the bin under the table in the hallway.

Musical Notes From Lindsay

Our new music director, Lindsay Woessner, wants to share some information about songs for upcoming services and why she's chosen them. See below for this week's notes and keep an eye out for future notes.

Get Ready to Love It

February 8 at 10:30 am Service, Song of the Day: Act Justly, Love Mercy, Walk Humbly

Why I Love This Recording: The live acoustic version trims the song back to acoustic guitar and vocals, allowing the raw power of the text to be at the front and center. Enjoy, and get ready to join us in singing this "new-to-us" selection. We'll have an informal rehearsal of the song's chorus before the start of 10:30 am worship on 2/8, and please enjoy this lyric video to practice in the meantime!

February 15 at 10:30 am Service, Sending Song: Let It Rise

While the link above leads to a recording by the composer himself, this is my favorite version. Holland Davis (composer of Let It Rise) is a pastor as well as an award-winning Christian music composer, and is said to have written this song spontaneously during a deeply spiritual moment.

Annual Spaghetti Dinner and Youth Fundraiser

The annual spaghetti dinner and youth fundraiser will be held on Friday evening, March 6 at St. Matthew's! As in past years, there will be two seatings, one at 5:30 pm and one at 7:00 pm. Unlike past years, tickets will not be sold but a freewill offering will be collected to benefit the St. Matthew's/St. Paul's youth ministry; suggested donations are $10 per adult and $5 per child 12 and under, or $30 per family. To reserve your seats, go to this link: March 6th Youth Spaghetti Dinner.

Chat and Chews Book Club

The Chat and Chews Sunday School Book Club meets on the THIRD Sunday of each month, however in February we will meet on the FOURTH Sunday, due to Friend's Sunday. We meet after the late service in the Lounge next to the Hospitality Room. Our next meeting will be on Sunday, February 22, and we will discuss 2 books: "The Nurse's Secret," by Amanda Skenandore, and "Prayer--Does it Make a Difference," Part 4, by Philip Yancey. You do not have to finish the book or even read it to join us in a lively and faithful discussion. Please contact Gwen Werner at ggwerner@verizon.net or call the church office for more information. Happy Reading!
