The Purpose Drive Life Worship Series and Discussion Groups

Our worship series based on the bestselling book that sold 50 million copies, The Purpose Driven Life, began last week and will continue through October. Each week in the series we'll focus on a basic part of our faith journey: Worship, Fellowship, Discipleship, Service and Mission. (This corresponds almost exactly with St. Paul's strategic tree.) To get the most out of the series, we encourage you to read the book which is divided into 40 daily readings. You can buy your own in whatever format you like or we have copies available on Sunday. Additionally we're offering these discussion groups where you can make friends and talk about what you are reading:

  • Monday @ 7 pm at church
  • Sunday @ 9:15 am (on second floor)

We really hope you will engage in this series which we know will be a blessing!

Social Ministry Garage Sale This Saturday

Attention All Parents, Grandparents, and Friends of Pre-Schoolers. We will be holding a Yard Sale on September 21 from 8-12 in front of the church to sell any remaining toys, puzzles, child size picnic tables, and supplies from the St. Paul's Preschool. Nothing will be priced and all items will be given away in exchange for a donation to a local charity. Come out and support a great cause!

Free Books and Hymnals

As we are rearranging the building, we are collapsing most of our less used church library. Some resources will be saved in a classroom, but the remainder are FREE books for you! They are in the bookcase and on the table in the back of the narthex. Take any you would like or would like to gift to others. Additionally, there are boxes of free church hymnals, including the older green Lutheran Book of Worship and the much older red Service Book and Hymnal, as well as Hymns for the Family of God (no dedications) and With One Voice (with dedications). The boxes are also labeled as to those which were given as a dedication if you wish to search for one given for a friend or family member. Enjoy!

Space Usage and Parsonage Clean Out

Hi St. Paul's,

I'm sure you've started to see some of the space usage changes starting to take place. The youth room has new couches and love seats. The music storage room has been painted and the items have been moved in (Thanks Amigos!). The adult faith formation and youth Sunday school rooms are ready for Rally Day.

The next major step is to clean up the living room over in the Parsonage. Before that starts, Council wants to make sure groups have time to identify items they would like to use and have relocated over to the church. We will be holding open houses between services on Sunday, September 22 for folks to identify items they would like for their ministries. After these two open houses, unclaimed items may be either sold, donated or disposed of based on their condition.

Please reach out with any questions.

Thanks

Kyle Wiest

Council President

Rise Against Hunger

We will have a shared Rise Against Hunger with St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Chester Springs on Sunday, October 20 from 11 am - 5 pm. Volunteers will be able to sign up for a 2-hour shift. By raising funds and working a shift, we will buy and pack around 20,000 meals to fight hunger around the world. It's a great family event! Sign up now open!

Baptism of Melody Lynn Biber

We will celebrate the joy and love of Holy Baptism for Melody Lynn Biber, daughter of Benjamin and Nikki Biber, at the 10:30 am service on Sunday, September 22.

Thanksgiving Food Drive

Please join us in helping local families in need this Thanksgiving. We will be collecting food for 300 food boxes for the Honey Brook Food Pantry and 50 boxes for Care Center. There are 2 ways you can help.

If you are interested in shopping and purchasing food directly, please consider signing up to supply a full meal for the Care Center. See list of items needed below.

Don't like to shop or would prefer to provide a monetary donation, please help us with the Honey Brook Food Pantry collection. Due to the large number of items needed, we will be purchasing items in bulk. Your monetary donation will help us buy things like cases of green beans, flats of stuffing, etc. We estimate it will cost $13 for each food box for Honey Brook.

Stay tuned for more information on the food box packing event. We will need many helpers!

Sign up here to contribute to the drive.

New Family Ministry Team Event

Our new St. Paul's/St. Matthew's Family Ministry Team has some great ideas percolating! The team will host its first event for families with younger children (elementary aged and below) on Sunday afternoon, November 10. This will be an opportunity to have some fun and spend time getting to know other families from both congregations, as well as a chance to offer input into how our team can support you as a parent. More details coming soon!

Special Youth Presentation This Sunday

OUR YOUTH WILL HAVE A SPECIAL PRESENTATION ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 22 at 11:45am (after the 10:30 am worship) where they will share music, learnings, and their experiences from both the ELCA Youth Gathering and our Appalachia Service Project work week this summer. Come to celebrate with us, and so that we can thank you, our St. Paul's family, for all of your support in helping make these mountaintop experiences possible for our youth!

Men's Athletic Shoes/Work Boots Needed
