Parking Lot Repaving and OFFSITE Worship on Sunday, July 12

The congregation was so wonderful to support the "Pave the Way" fundraising to repave the parking lot and soon it will be happening. The parking lot will be repaved and unavailable from Monday, July 6 through at least Wednesday, July 15. If you need to stop by the church, the driveway closest to the parsonage will be available for parking. This means that on Sunday, July 12 at 9:30 am we will share worship with St. Matthew's Lutheran Church at 2440 Conestoga Rd, Chester Springs, PA 19425. This will be a great time to connect with our "sister" congregation with whom we collaborate, especially on areas like Youth Ministry, Rise Against Hunger and Vacation Bible School. In addition, please note that St. Matthew's plans to host a special hospitality as a welcome gesture to St. Paul's, so please plan to join.

VBS Registration Ends July 6!

Get ready for the brightest week of the year! Our Illumination Station Vacation Bible School will run from 9:00 am - 12:00 noon from Monday, July 27 through Friday, July 31. Registration is open to all students from age 4 (by 1/1/26) through 5th grade (completed 2025-2026). Adults and children who have completed 5th grade or higher are encouraged to volunteer to help out. More information and registration for campers and volunteers can be found online. Paper forms are available in the narthex. Registration forms and payment are due by Monday, July 6.

Appalachia Service Project Goodies

WE ARE LOOKING FOR CARE PACKAGE GOODIES TO SEND TO OUR ASP TEAM WHILE THEY ARE AWAY IN WV! Items can be cookies, brownies, hard candy, Tastykakes, simple dollar-store puzzles and games, etc. Donations must be received by Wednesday, July 8 and can be left on the office porch at St. Matthew's or in the airlock at St. Paul's. Questions? Contact Craig Miller at craigyouthmin@gmail.com.

Organ/Accompanist or Assistant Music Director Position

Our team is ready to start receiving application materials for this staff position. You'll notice we are advertising in two different ways. We remain committed to our use of the organ in traditional worship and if needed, will be restructuring the Music Director position to ensure continuity in this area. We will ultimately select the new person and role that best align with the lead applicant's specific skills and heart to ensure the best fit for our music ministry. If you are interested or know someone who might be a good candidate, please check out StPaulsLionville.org/careers to learn more.

Donations for VBS

Hello everyone! We need a few items to make Illumination Station VBS a success this year! We are especially looking for donations to feed our hungry guides and for our ice cream social. If you are able to help, please stop by the table in the narthex to pick up tag for a needed item you can help with and return the item by Thursday, July 16. Your donations will help us provide the best programming for our campers this summer. Thank you!

Give Us Your Thoughts on Worship Music

In order to deepen our understanding of the needs of the congregation, the Worship Planning Team requests individuals who normally attend the 10:30 am service from May through September to respond to the following Contemporary Music Selections Survey:

Your response assists us in planning deeply enriching worship experiences for our church community.

Help Lead Worship Behind the Scenes!

St. Paul’s is looking for volunteers to join our Worship Tech Team to help us "worship in spirit and truth." By joining this team, you’ll provide needed support for the worship team, allowing our audio technicians to focus their expertise on mastering the sound while you handle the visuals. You’ll play a vital role by timing slide transitions to stay just ahead of the congregation, ensuring everyone can sing and speak along confidently.

  • The Perks: Enjoy Dave’s great company and reserved balcony seating with the best view in the house while you serve!
  • The Role: Advance slides in OBS and assist with technical needs during worship.
  • The Commitment: Serve once every 4–6 weeks. An annual commitment is preferred for continuity.
  • Requirements: Attention to detail, basic tech skills, and a heart for our mission.
  • Training: Full support provided by our Director of Music and Worship Technician.

Aide/Companion Wanted

Please see the request below from a local family:

We are looking for a caring and compassionate individual to work as an aide/companion for our 25-year-old daughter who has intellectual disabilities. You would take her out in the community to places like the gym, malls, movies, parks, swimming, etc. It pays $28.67 an hour plus 72 cents a mile when you are driving her. We have a company who administers payroll and will help you get any required clearances. The hours are Monday and Wednesdays from 10:00 to 2:00 or from 10:30 to 2:30. Please call Nancy Rich at 610-357-4859 for more information.

Home Crafting Projects

Even though the Crafters are not meeting throughout summer, our sewing projects continue at home. If you’d like to help with the easy-to-sew school bags for Lutheran World Relief, let us know. It’s just straight stitch sewing from an easy-to-follow instruction sheet. Or if you’d like to finish off one of our quilts by putting in the final knots, they’re ready to work on too. Questions? Tilly Hujsak (home)  610-363-6898 (cell) 610-764-8800 or Karen Pindle 484-883-5721 (cell). Thank you.

Coffee Fellowship Help

Thank you for everyone who has signed up to help with coffee fellowship this summer. We still have many August dates available, so if you haven't had a chance to sign up, please do so either online or in the narthex. Thank you!

Musical Notes From Lindsay

June 28:

Scriptural Reference: Exodus 5:1-9, Moses Confronts Pharaoh

Prelude: Wade in the Water...African Spiritual

In addition to foreshadowing our journey through Exodus (See that band all dressed in red God is gonna trouble these waters Look like a band that Moses led God is gonna trouble these waters), this "Sorrow Song" provides a window to the profound faith of those who have suffered unimaginable persecution. While classified as a spiritual, Wade in the Water was also a coded song used in the Underground Railroad, and later became a rallying cry for social justice during the civil rights movement. The enslaved Africans who created this haunting melody have offered compelling similarities between their plight and that of the enslaved Israelites.

Gathering Hymn: O God of Every Nation

Another nod to the day's scripture reading from Exodus, this hymn was written by William W. Reid Jr. following WWII, and was inspired by the war itself. The lyrics express our collective need to be delivered from the evils of the world, and that through God's mercy and Christ's victory "o'er all the world's domain" we might be healed and united through love and peace.

If this type of thing interests you, I encourage reading this article which also describes the hymn's first place ranking in a hymn-writing contest by the Hymn Society of America.

Song of the Day: Bring Forth the Kingdom

The theme of justice continues in our song of the day, which calls for mercy, justice and peace.

Sending Song: May You Run and Not Be Weary

Even Moses struggled with doubts about his ability to do as God commanded. But God assured Moses that he would be with him throughout the great task of freeing the Israelites from Pharaoh's rule. He would not be alone. May we also know the love and strength of God that guides us through adversity, bringing us home once again.
