Christian Unity Service

This year celebrates the 1,700 year anniversary that churches have been cooperating with each other since the first Christian Ecumenical Council. As we do each year, the Exton/Lionville Ministerium will be hosting a worship service to celebrate this unity. This year the service will be on Sunday, January 19 at 4 pm at Covenant Presbyterian Church (400 Lancaster Ave, Malvern, PA) and the guest preacher will be Pastor Stacy Gonzalez from Grove Presbyterian Church. (You can also watch the livestream at Covenantfrazer.org)

Annual Congregational Meeting Details

On Sunday, February 2 we will have our annual congregational meeting. There will just be one worship service at 9:30 am followed by the meeting. The meeting will be livestreamed, but you may only vote by attending in person. The meeting will be followed with a fellowship potluck. Please sign up at StPaulsLionville.org/events to bring something to share. There will be no Sunday School that morning, but our wonderful Sunday School staff will be providing a short event for kids during the meeting. The annual report is now available in the narthex and if you would like a digital copy, please email Cari in the office at caristpauls@gmail.com. In addition, for approval of the budget, our treasurer will be available between the services on January 19 and January 26.

Living Love Lunches

The following items are needed for Living Love Lunches:

  • individual packages of salty snacks (chips, pretzels, fritos, etc)
  • granola bars
  • cookies- individual packages or larger packages that we will divide up into ziplocks
  • individual cups of applesauce, fruit, pudding
  • candy

Place items in bin marked Living Love Lunches. Our next Living Love Lunches lunch packing event is on Tuesday, January 21 at 6:30 pm. Please stop by the fellowship hall and lend a hand. Thank you!

St. Paul's Thrift Store Accepting Donations!

St. Paul's will be hosting a pop-up thrift store the 1st week of February and we need your donations! A pop-up thrift is like an indoor garage sale. Throughout January, your donated items can be placed in the designated room in the parsonage from 8:00 am - 2:00 pm on Sundays! Instead of bringing your items to Goodwill, consider donating to the sale. Household goods, toys, holiday decorations, small furniture, gently used clothing, etc. is all needed. Proceeds from the sale will be used to make repairs to the parsonage as well as be donated within the community. Please contact Jennifer Pindle with questions.

California Wildfire Support

We've all been watching the news with the horrible wildfires they've had in the Los Angeles area. This came even closer to home when one of our members told me that her grandson's school burned to the ground. As always, Lutheran Disaster Response is mobilized to help people with supplies and resources. If you would like to learn more or donate, please visit their website! Thank you so much!

Chat and Chews Book Club

The Chat and Chews Sunday School Book Club will now meet on the THIRD Sunday of each month, after the late service in the Lounge next to the Hospitality Room. Our next meeting will be on Sunday, January, 19.

We will be reading "The 13th Gift" (A true story of a Christmas miracle), by Joanne Huist Smith. You do not have to finish the book or even read it to join us in a lively and faithful discussion. Please contact Gwen Werner or call the church office for more information. Happy Reading!

Director of Youth Ministries

Craig Miller will be on leave from January 6 through February 3, 2025. As a society we are becoming very aware that taking care of one’s personal health is vital and we pray this time of rest and recharging is a blessing to Craig. During this time Pastor Stuart (and Pastor Christian) and our excellent team of adults will be leading our youth ministry. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Pastor Stuart.

Making Sense of the Christian Faith Adult Class

Pastor Stuart’s adult class is meeting at 9:15 am on Sundays in room 207 to work on a video-based class called “Making Sense of the Christian Faith.” The study is led by David Lose, a very well-respected seminary professor and pastor of the ELCA. We hope you can join to learn, grow and make some new friends!

Blankets Needed

During this winter season, warm blankets are needed for the homeless in Chester. If you have a blanket you are not using, place it in one of the bins in the hallway and it will be distributed to the homeless.

Alice Robison Memorial Service

The memorial service for Alice Robison will be on Saturday, February 1 at St. Paul's. There will be a time of visitation from 10-11 am followed by the service at 11 am. As one of our very long-time members, many who remember Alice may already be gone, but I'm sure the family will appreciate receiving visitors on that day!
