The Lenten Gospel of Matthew Worship Series

Last year, during Lent, we focused on the Gospel of Mark and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive and many folks asked that we continue with another Gospel. The next logical Gospel is Matthew which we will focus on this Lent. This is one of the best ways to grow in faith, reading the Bible and especially one of the Gospels! These accounts of Jesus’ life help us understand his ministry, miracles, teaching and ultimately the sacrifice of Jesus and his resurrection. This year in Lent (March 5-April 20, 2025) we will have the daily opportunity to read, or listen to the Gospel of Matthew. Additionally, the worship services in Lent will focus on what we have read. For the Wednesday evening Lenten services, we’ll be watching a movie version of The Gospel of Matthew, word for word from the Bible with actors on location acting out the text. Lastly, there will be small groups which will meet each week for Bible study on the sections of the daily Matthew readings. To sign up for daily texts or emails with the readings and an audio version or to express interest in a Bible study, please go to StPaulsLionville.org/events.

We especially need people who are willing to host a Bible study, either in-person or online. If you would like to learn more about this, please contact PastorStuart@StPaulsLionville.org or call 610-804-1740. We hope this series will be a blessing to you!

Living Love Lunches

Our next Living Love Lunches lunch packing event will be on Tuesday, February 25 at 6:30 pm. Please join us to lend a hand! Donations of individual packages of salty snacks, granola bars, cookies, applesauce, fruit, and pudding may be left in the donation box in the narthex. Thank you for helping us feed our neighbors!

Family Ministry Activity for Young Families

Our next activity day for younger families will be held from 3:00 to 4:30 pm on Sunday afternoon, March 2 at St. Paul's! Families who have children from preschool through 5th grade are invited to join us for some active games, craft activities, and food; younger and older siblings are welcome, too! If you know you will be there, please sign up here to help us with planning: March 2nd Family Activity Day.

Annual Spaghetti Dinner and Youth Fundraiser

The annual spaghetti dinner and youth fundraiser will be held on Friday evening, March 7 at St. Matthew's! As in past years, there will be two seatings, one at 5:30 pm and one at 7:00 pm. Unlike past years, tickets will not be sold but a freewill offering will be collected to benefit the St. Matthew's/St. Paul's youth ministry; suggested donations are $10 per adult and $5 per child 12 and under, or $30 per family. To reserve your seats, sign up at church or go to this link: March 7th Youth Spaghetti Dinner.

Spaghetti Dinner Food Donations

Spaghetti dinner food donations are still needed! We are looking for people to donate food and supplies for our March 7 Spaghetti Dinner. Donations should be dropped off at St. Paul's by Thursday, March 6 or at St. Matthew's by noon Friday, March 7. Sign up here to contribute: Spaghetti Dinner Food Donations.

Pave the Way Parking Lot Fundraiser

This past Sunday we had a brief presentation about raising funds to repair, mill and resurface the parking lot. That information has been mailed to the congregation, but it is also available including an online estimate of giving, the presentation and drone footage of the parking lot at StPaulsLionville.org/parkinglot!

Pop-Up Thrift Store News!

Our first pop up thrift store event was a huge success, raising over $2000 for local charitable organizations and repairs to the Parsonage! A big thank you to everyone who helped by donating items, organizing and working the sale, and getting the word out. Our next pop thrift store will be open on Saturday, March 8 and Sunday, March 9 from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. Donations of items for the next sale are now being accepted and may be left in the air locks between the entrance doors. Donations of housewares and home decor items are particularly appreciated.

Chat and Chews Book Club

The Chat and Chews Sunday School Book Club will now meet on the THIRD Sunday of each month, after the late service in the Lounge next to the Hospitality Room. Our next meeting will be on Sunday, March 16.

We will be reading "The Nightingale" by Kristin Hannah. You do not have to finish the book or even read it to join us in a lively and faithful discussion. Please contact Gwen Werner at ggwerner@verizon.net or call the church office for more information. Happy Reading!
