Lutheran World Relief School Bags

LWR Kits are specifically designed to help people coping with poverty, disaster, conflict and more. School bag kits help keep education going during a crisis. The kits provide dignity and hope in the direst situations. Visit StPaulsLionville.org/events to learn more and donate items. New items only. If you would prefer to donate money for school supplies, we will shop the Back to School sales for you. Please return to St. Paul's Lutheran Church by September 1.

Be Part of a New Family Opportunity

We are creating a new "Family Ministry Team" to plan events for, and consider ways to help and support, our younger families (elementary age and below) at St. Paul's and St. Matthew's. This team will meet on a regular basis, either monthly or every other month, to brainstorm and identify opportunities to more deeply engage younger families. If you are interested in being part of this team, please contact Craig Miller at craigyouthmin@gmail.com.

Rise Against Hunger

We will have a shared Rise Against Hunger with St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Chester Springs on Sunday, October 20 from 11 am - 2 pm. By raising funds and working a shift, we will buy and pack around 20,000 meals to fight hunger around the world. It's a great family event so save the date and look for the sign-up coming soon!

Special Youth Presentation

OUR YOUTH WILL HAVE A SPECIAL PRESENTATION ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 22 at 11:45am (after the 10:30am worship) where they will share music, learnings, and their experiences from both the ELCA Youth Gathering and our Appalachia Service Project work week this summer. Come to celebrate with us, and so that we can thank you, our St. Paul's family, for all of your support in helping make these mountaintop experiences possible for our youth!

Outdoor Service

On Sunday, August 25, we will celebrate a wonderful outdoor service (weather permitting) at 9:30 am. This is always such a delightful event that it would be a great opportunity to invite a friend, neighbor or family member to worship that day! After the service we will get to enjoy an ice cream celebration! Hawaiian shirts encouraged!

Please note that for those who regularly watch our livestream, due to the complications of offering the livestream outdoors, only the pre-recorded sermon will be offered that morning.

ATTENTION SIXTH THROUGH TWELFTH GRADERS - Set aside Saturday evening, September 14 through Sunday morning, September 15 on your calendars for our Youth Kickoff Lock-In at St. Matthew's! We will start at 6pm with food and fun introductory activities, then spend the night "locked in" at St. Matthew's, continuing to eat food, play games, explore areas of interest like music and physical activity, doze (if you so choose), eat more food, and make plans for the special Youth Sunday worship we will be leading on Sunday morning at St. Matt's. Come late or leave early if you need to, but come anyway! Cost of the event is one non-perishable canned or boxed good for the Chester County Food Bank. Sign up here to save your spot: Sept. 14th-15th Youth Lock-In.

THE YOUTH EVENTS CALENDAR FOR FALL 2024 is now available online! Go to https://www.stpaulslionville.org/youth to see the latest, most up-to-date information. Event sign-up links are included on this page, too!

SAVE THE DATES: All youth are invited to participate in our annual Rise Against Hunger event on Sunday, October 20; and there will be another opportunity for our high school students to spend an afternoon doing activities with the Gemma Services students on Sunday, October 27. Put those events on your calendar now!

Crafters News

Crafters will meet at 11am in the Parsonage during August, to knot the big quilts. All are welcome to join. Bring a bagged lunch if you wish.

Coffee Fellowship

Do you enjoy having a cup of coffee and a snack while visiting after services? Everyone does! Please sign up to lend a hand and provide Sunday morning fellowship snacks and prepare coffee. Get together with friends, family, or your church group and have some fun! Sign up in the narthex or online at StPaulsLionville.org/events.

Serve with Love

A “Serve with Love" survey will be inserted into bulletins in August and is available in the narthex, or you can click here to submit the survey online. Submitting this survey notifies the office if you would like to start volunteering, volunteer in another capacity, or step back from volunteering. If you serve Sunday mornings and will be away in December, January, or February, you can avoid being scheduled by emailing those dates to Maureen at Maureen@StPaulsLionville.org. Visit StPaulsLionville.org/volunteers for the most up-to-date volunteer schedule. Thank you so much for serving!

Vision Process Display and Update

You will notice a new display as you head toward the curved stairs off the narthex to the second floor. The display visually represents the work of the Visioning Process last year and also has the updated status of the 70+ ideas that were generated by the congregation. Take a look every so often and celebrate what God is doing in our midst...and what tasks and ministries are yet to be accomplished!

Living Love Lunches

Living Love Lunches is a program that provides packed lunches to the homeless in Chester. St. Paul’s will be contributing 50 packed lunches a month to the ministry. Please join us Tuesday, August 27 at 6:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall to pack bagged lunches. All supplies will be provided. We need help making sandwiches and assembling the lunches.
