Rectors Note September 14th, 2023

What is Intinction?

Dear St. Peter’s,

There are several different ways one can receive communion in the Episcopal Church. If you grew up in another church tradition or another Episcopal church you may or may not be familiar with the variations. Once the bread and wine are consecrated by the Celebrant, you can receive one or both and be fully communed. The bread is distributed first and the wine follows. In our tradition, wine is administered in a chalice or “common cup”. People can drink wine from the chalice or have their bread dipped (intinction) into the wine by the chalice bearer. Since COVID we first returned to drinking from the chalice and now we will bring back intinction. If you would like to have your bread intincted during communion, please hand your wafer to the chalice bearer who will dip it in the wine and give it back to you. See you Sunday!

Blessings,

Rev. Anne

MARK YOUR CALENDARS

On Saturday, September 30th at 6 PM in the Parish Hall,

St. Peter’s Church will host its second annual wine-tasting fundraiser, where supper will be served, in its historic parish house and feature Chris Cannon of

Jockey Hollow Bar and Kitchen owner.

IMPORTANT: Please consider donating to the auction—possibly a gift certificate to your favorite restaurant, theater tickets, a wine basket, or an item for one’s home. Perhaps you could offer a stay at your vacation home or a round of golf at your club. Or you might consider a service like raking leaves, planting bulbs, piano lessons, a ride to the airport, home-baked bread, or a homemade dinner. Whatever it might be, your name will be featured in our print program. Please find the item donation form here.

Click here to get your tickets today!

What better way to get to know your fellow parishioners than by sharing a meal with

them?  Meet to share a potluck or restaurant meal while engaging in deeper conversation

and community. The intention is to have fun and allow us to meet each other and become better acquainted. One person or a couple of hosts will provide the main dish while other attendees bring appetizers, side dishes, and dessert to complete the meal. Meeting at a local restaurant is also an option; participants pay individually.

To sign up, look for flyers in the back of the church or the parish office. Questions? Reach out to Nerissa at NBoccino@stpetersmorristown.net or click here.

Please find the registration form here.

URGENT: VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED FOR ST. PETER'S KiDS

Volunteers sought by Mother Elizabeth to join as leaders and assistants for St. Peter's Kids Program. Leaders must dedicate two hours per month during the program year, split between preparation and class-leading. Meanwhile, assistants are asked to contribute two hours per month, being present and helpful on two Sundays. Before participating, leaders and assistants must undergo online Safe Church training (5 hours, flexible scheduling) and attend a training session with Mother Elizabeth (3 hours). If you're eager to support the St. Peter's Kids Program, be sure to get in touch with Mother Elizabeth immediately.

DEAR ST. PETER'S,

I am excited to share the news about St. Peter’s first Architectural Historical Walk on October 15, 2023. The walk is about the history and significance of our stunning stained glass windows, plaques, and other memorabilia.

You might have already heard some talk about it, but it is now a reality! The success of this walk depends on all of us. I began calling people I knew and realized there are so many of you I haven’t met yet that it would be easier to connect with you through the blast!

I am extending this invitation to everyone who would like to be a part of this event as a docent or usher, or if you have information I don’t have access to, please feel free to share it with me. I would be very grateful. Or, if you have an idea to share, feel free to do so.

I can be reached by email at mlpfeifer2017@gmail.com to sign up.

Questions? Please text or call 201-910-4250.

I am looking forward to meeting all of you and looking forward to working with you.
