Sermon Series: Finding Our Purpose/Calling

Join us for a preaching series on 1/14 and 1/21: Finding God's Purpose for your Life.

There is a longing or unrest in our souls until we find God's purpose for our lives.

Over the next two Sundays we will be exploring the nature of God's calling others to follow Him. Each person in the scripture had a unique experience and response. Hopefully it will be an aid to discerning God's purpose for you in this season of life.

It is my desire to help our members find their God-given purpose and support them in living it.

For His Sake,

Pastor Robin+

DOK Meeting and Elections

Sunday, January 14

The DOK will meet after the 10:30 service in the Hall. We will bring in the New Year with prayer and then a short business meeting. Please be prayerfully considering if God is calling you into leadership in this beautiful prayer order. We need a Vice President and Secretary. Angela McCabe has offered to be President. Maria Niswander has offered to be treasurer. We will hold a brief election to affirm their offering. For those interested in learning more about being a Daughter of the King, you ware welcome to join us!

In the meantime,

let us pray for God to bring peace to our members and the world. May He draw those in our wider community in search of Hope and love to St. Timothy’s and may we be ready to receive them.

We recall the motto: I am but one, but I am one.

I cannot do everything but I can do something.

What I can do, I ought to do.

What I ought to do by the grace of God, I will do.

FHS,

You Decide: A Case for Love

Tuesday, January 23

“A Case for Love” is a heartfelt yet personally challenging movie inspired by the teachings and writings of Bishop Michael Curry, most well-known for his passionate sermon about “The Power of Love” at the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

This documentary examines whether or not love–specifically unselfish love–is the solution to the extreme societal and political divide facing the U.S.

In the documentary, the film team travels across the U.S. interviewing everyday people from various walks of life and ethnicities, striving to live their lives selflessly. Stories include racial justice, military, foster care, sexual trafficking, love and loss and others as well-known figures including Pete Buttigieg, Al Roker, Sam Waterston, Becca Stevens, Russell Moore, John Danforth, John Clyburn, Kelly Brown Douglas and Jon Meacham weigh in on the issue. Ultimately, Bishop Michael Curry puts what we’ve seen into context.

The viewer is challenged to make their own verdict. Come watch and decide for yourself.

We hope that you will join us in taking a group to watch this movie together! The movie trailer and ticket information can be found at acaseforlovemovie.com. Take a moment today and watch the trailer—we/I think it will move you. Let us know you’d like to be a part of the group by signing up in the Narthex.
