Transfiguration Prayer Service

Join us this Thursday, August 6, at 9am in the Chapel as we observe The Transfiguration of our Lord Jesus Christ with Morning Prayer Service. The Transfiguration remembers the moment when Jesus' disciples saw him in radiant light and heard God's voice proclaim him as his beloved Son. For the disciples, it was a glimpse of who Jesus truly is, not only a teacher, but God made known to the world. We invite you to join us as we reflect on this sacred mystery through prayer and scripture.

As our nation marks its 250th anniversary, Brighter Day offers an opportunity to celebrate one of the enduring gifts woven into America's story: the rich tradition of Black sacred music. Rooted in faith, resilience, and hope, gospel music has shaped worship, inspired generations, and influenced nearly every genre of American music. Join us this Saturday, August 8th for an evening of joyful song as we honor this remarkable legacy and the voices that continue to bring light, faith, and community to our shared story. This concert has been designed and led by our 8:30am service’s Worship Leader, Jamond McCoy. If you have not yet attended one of his gospel concerts, you are missing out! Purchase your ticket today using the link below or on Sunday at the Sign Up Table.

Celebration to Greet
the Rev. Dr. Antonio José Gallardo Lucena

Saturday, August 29 at 11:00am | Sacquety Hall

St. Wilfrid's is honored to host a special celebration to welcome and greet The Rt. Rev. Dr. Antonio Gallardo Lucena, our new Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles.

Join us on Saturday, August 29, at 11am as members of churches from across Deanery 10 gather to celebrate this exciting new chapter in the life of our diocese. This joyful meet and greet will be an opportunity to welcome Bishop Gallardo, introduce ourselves, and spend time together in fellowship with Episcopalians from throughout our deanery.

Whether you attended Bishop Antonio's+ consecration or are meeting him for the first time, we hope you'll join us as we extend a warm St. Wilfrid's welcome and celebrate his ministry among us. We look forward to sharing this special occasion with you!

Visit the Sign Up Table if you would like to bring a treat or snack to share.

Around the Diocese

The diocese's weekly Resource Roundup newsletter has begun their summer hiatus.

This weekly newsletter sent by Bishop Antonio and the leadership team will include reflections, updates on the work of the diocese, and upcoming events as we walk together in God's mission of love, truth, and service.

A New Rhythm of Communication for the Diocese

As the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles begins a new chapter under the leadership of Bishop Antonio José Gallardo Lucena, our community can expect a new rhythm of regular communication designed to keep congregations informed, connected, and supported.

Beginning in the coming weeks, this newsletter will feature regular updates from members of the bishop's leadership team, introducing the people and ministries serving the Diocese. Readers will hear from the Rev. Jon Canon Feuss, Canon to the Ordinary, Chief of Staff, and Integrator; the Rev. Canon Susan Stanton, who leads Administration and Finance; the Rev. Canon John Watson, who leads Christian Mission and Leadership.

These updates are intended to offer greater transparency, strengthen connections across the Diocese, and keep congregations informed about the work being done to support their ministries.

So what happens after the deanery meeting?

The conversations taking place at each deanery gathering do not end when the day is over. Instead, they become part of the ongoing work of the diocesan leadership team. Every Tuesday, Bishop Antonio meets with the diocesan leadership team to reflect on what they are hearing from congregations across the Diocese.

Together, they discuss the questions, ideas, and challenges being shared by church leaders and members, identify opportunities for collaboration, and discern how the Diocese can best support the ministries of its congregations. These weekly meetings help ensure that the voices heard throughout the Diocese inform both current priorities and future planning.

People from Deanery 5 (and a few guests from St. Wilfrid's) meet with
Bishop Antonio at Church of Our Savior in San Gabriel

Children are welcome at St. Wilfrid's!

Our programs are divided by age with all children rejoining their families for the Eucharist. Visiting children are always welcome.
