St Joseph High School - A Catholic College Preparatory Community
Dear Friends,

Good morning, St. Joes. Yesterday, Palm Sunday, marked the beginning of Holy Week and as a school community we will pray, attend mass, and reflect upon the importance of the Paschal Triduum. On Tuesday, our Seniors will gather together for a mass celebrated by SJ Chaplain, Father Eric Silva, followed by some additional fellowship, fun, and food. This special Senior Day will serve as the beginning of a well-deserved and celebratory final marking period for our impressive Class of 2021.

As we all know, the lingering COVID-19 pandemic continues to be a challenging matter with situationally disruptive and disappointing impacts. To protect the safety and health of our school community, it is imperative to remain fluent in, and properly responsive to state and local guidelines, data trends and recommended mitigation practices. To that end, the SJHS COVID Response Team (CRT) participates in weekly meetings with the Trumbull Department of Health (DPH) and the Office of Emergency Management (OEM).

In the interest of continued transparency and enhanced clarity, let me provide the most recent quarantining guidance (Wednesday, March 24, 2021) from our Trumbull DPH and OEM partners.

  • Students determined to be a Direct Contact based upon the contact tracing process must continue to quarantine for 10-days.
  • Students determined to be a Direct Contact may not test out of the required 10-day quarantine protocol.

That said, our COVID Response Team will continue to actively participate in the weekly update meetings with Trumbull DPH and OEM Officials. If we learn of any changes that allow us to modify and/or relax our current policies and practices, we will do so immediately and promptly inform SJ families (parents and students) of those authorized adjustments.

In the meantime, please join me in remaining diligently committed to the Family and School Partnership Agreement and praying for a decline in the frequency of medically confirmed cases of COVID-19. We look forward to an enjoyable and fulfilling 4th marking period for our entire SJ Community. I wish your family a blessed Holy Week and thank you for your continued support and kindness.

In Faith and Fellowship,
David J. Klein
