Librarian Recommended: Book of the Week!
High school senior, Savvy, has just seen her only sister off to college and dreads living alone with her mother. After losing weight on a reality TV show, her mother is determined to change Savvy's body too. Her mom's body-shaming and food restrictions are things that Savvy knows are wrong, and she desperately tries not to let them impact her self-confidence, something that's hard to do when her mother is gets more and more drastic in her own restrictions and exercise, and when reality TV comes to their house to film them. Luckily, Savvy has a loyal best friend and a new love interest to distract her, along with a news story to investigate for her school paper. The portrayal of Savvy's mother's eating disorder is sensitive and will resonate strongly with readers, as will the book’s message of acceptance of all kinds.
