St Joseph High School - A Catholic College Preparatory School
St Joseph High Receives $100,000 State of Connecticut School Security Grant!
Connecticut established the  School Security Competitive Grant to assist public and private schools in improving security infrastructure and security systems. Mrs Batten, Chief Financial Officer, and Mr Dzurenda, Facilities Director, collaborated in preparing the detailed application, which also requires a comprehensive All Hazards Security Plan be registered with and approved by the state and local agencies. This is a matching grant and is the second grant awarded to St Joes. The first was for $80,000.

The funds ($360,000 in total) have been used to enhance safety measures throughout the campus, including a scan-key card access system, enhanced doorways, shatter proof windows, campus wide communications and a surveillance camera system, as well as several campus modifications to remove hidden danger zones. All the enhancements have been made in collaboration with the Town of Trumbull Law Enforcement, Fire Department, Emergency Management Team, and Public Health.

Catholic College Prep Education: Past, Present, and Future

Parents are welcome to join us for our final Francis Xavier Lecture Series of the school year! Dr Keane, SJ Principal, will deliver a lecture on the philosophical changes that have taken place in US Catholic college prep schools since 1968 and the challenges facing these institutions today.

D-Day Girls were the women who made crucial, behind-the-scenes contributions to the 1944 Allied invasion of France. Author, Sarah Rose describes these women's controversial, top-secret recruitment by British Special Forces and follows their extensive training, infiltration behind French lines, daring exploits, and post-war fates.

Readers get to know these amazing women as individuals, as their duties unfold against the backdrop of the war. Ample background information is provided, so that the dangers of their precarious positions and the consequences of the success or failure of their missions are well apparent. The mix of social history and biography incorporates contemporary attitudes towards women, its subjects' personal quirks, and plenty of romance, for an engaging read.
