St Joseph High School - A Catholic College Preparatory School
NEW Vice Principal for Curriculum & Learning at St Joes!
Please join us in welcoming  Mr Scott Clough  to the position of Vice Principal for Curriculum and Instruction. Mr Clough brings fifteen years of classroom experience at the Ursuline School in Westchester, where he chaired the History Department and taught Global Studies and AP Economics. At Ursuline, he encouraged interdisciplinary studies, introduced online communication tools, and was responsible for curriculum implementation and on-boarding new teachers. He has a Masters in the Art of Teaching from Union and a CAS in School Building Leadership from the College of New Rochelle.
As Mr Clough’s interests in educational leadership blossomed, relocation brought the family within reach of the Diocese of Bridgeport and Dr Cheeseman quickly appointed Mr Clough principal of St Mark School in 2017. There, he has been instrumental in introducing Blended Learning and personalized learning methods; however, secondary education is Mr Clough’s forte and he is excited to put his experience to purpose in the college preparatory program at St Joes. His interpersonal skills, collegial style, and familiarity with applied analytics and current trends in education promises a positive impact on classroom achievement at St Joes.

We welcome Mr Clough warmly and with much enthusiasm. He lives in Bethel with his wife, Kristen, and children, Aaron and Avery. He will start his new position on July 1.

SJ Cadets Celebrate Mass and View the
On April 30, a few SJ Cadets were fortunate enough to celebrate mass at St Catherine of Siena, which hosted the Heart of St John Vianney Relic.

This event was during the relic’s national tour that runs through June. St John Vianney was noted for his dedication to the poor and counseling of those in need. He was canonized by Pope Pius XI.

St John Vianney's heart is kept at the Shrine of Ars, but has been lent to the Knights of Columbus for this national pilgrimage that began in New Haven in 2018.

Congratulations are in Order for our Upperclassmen!

Librarian Recommended: The History of Jane Doe
by Michael Belanger
The fictional town of Williamsburg, CT, is a one-stoplight town where everything interesting happened in the past—until a cool Brooklynite from the other Williamsburg turns up. High school juniors Ray and Simon are used to being outcasts until Jane Doe (her name changed for privacy) walks into biology class, sits down beside Ray, and upends the order of the universe. The novel sensitively explores mental health, loss, and grief. Spot-on pacing and well-drawn secondary characters round out this impressive debut.
