"I missed you!"
It is a sweet statement that comes from our daughter some mornings when she wakes up and comes to find me. I put her to bed the night before - it's only been about twelve hours.
I have found myself saying the same thing this week as I have seen familiar faces in the hallways of the church. I missed each and every one of you this past Sunday. Starmount was not the only congregation in Greensboro that decided that the snow and travel conditions were too much. I learned from other churches that they DID hold worship services - it was reported that many in attendance were able to walk or utilize the "all wheel drive" benefits of their vehicles.
At the end of the day, it was decided that we should err on the side of caution. For as much as I, and other staff, would like to see you, it is more important that everyone stay safe. And so it was with Sunday.
While this weekend's forecast might give us spring fever and remind us of the warmer days to come, we are still in the thick of winter. As this Northerner has learned about North Carolina weather, it may very well be snowing next week or the week after - a roller coaster of temperatures and precipitation. So as the church events of February begin next week, I encourage you to continue to check WFMY (Channel 2), the church's Facebook page, and to call the church's voicemail if you are unsure of weather conditions will postpone or cancel the events for that day or evening. You may also opt-in to the church's texting service specific to weather. Text @spcweather to 81010 - it will allow you to receive text alerts from the church when it is closed or delayed.
I look forward to seeing you this Sunday when we celebrate the sacrament of baptism as we remember our own!
