Jewish Argentina

Argentina & The Jews: A History of Jewish Immigration by Haim Avni (1991)

Argentina is home to the largest Jewish community in the Hispanic world. This volume traces the shifting patterns of Jewish immigration as Argentina alternately barred Jews from entering the country and recruited them to immigrate.

The Ministry of Special Cases by Nathan Englander (2007)

In 1976, protagonist Kaddish Poznan searches for his missing son, one of the nearly 30,000 students, union members and political opponents who were “disappeared” by the military government during Argentina’s “Dirty War.”

The Murders of Moisés Ville: the Rise and Fall of the Jerusalem of South America by Javier Sinay (2022)

Shedding light on an undercovered portion of Jewish history, author Sinay explores his own family history to tell the story of a series of gruesome murders in a fledgling Jewish community in late-nineteenth-century Argentina.
