God help us all ... God's gonna trouble the waters .... It is Lent.
We continue our journey tomorrow....
Please save the date and times for Maundy Thursday (April 18) dinner at a delicious Mediterranean meal 6 pm and service at 7 pm.... and again for a very thoughtful, musical, and contemplative service on Good Friday 7 pm (April 19) with the Essex Piano Trio. These services together our Sunday services in Lent lead and prepare us for Easter.
1. Swampscott Age Friendly Community Forum, taking place this Sunday, March 24th from 2-4 PM at Swampscott High School, located at 200 Essex Street. Dr. Caitlin Coyle from UMASS Boston will be making a demographic presentation and facilitating an open discussion with residents about ho to make Swampscott more age friendly. Join in to share your experiences and ideas.
2. There is a concert by the Zion Baptist Choir and Band on Saturday March 30 at 4pm in our sanctuary. This is a fund raiser for immigrant support and the after school program. This will be a treat.
3. We are in Lent! Perhaps you would like to join me in the daily devotional from Luther Seminary. If you would like to take on a spiritual practice this Lent, I invite you to join me in the daily devotional reading and reflection from Luther Seminary. It can be found at the following link "I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say." And there are printed copies on the Opportunities Table in the hallway of the church, near Clarke Hall.
4. Amy will also be leading a Lenten Study on Sunday afternoons right after Sunday Worship in the Library. Growing a Rule of Life, begins Sunday, March 10. 11:45am. Did you know that we have a rich tradition of monastic life even in Protestant Christianity? What can we learn from that tradition? This Lent we will seek to cultivate our relationships with God, Self, Others, and Creation by exploring an aspect of monastic spirituality called a "Rule of Life," guided by a program created by the Brothers at the Society of St. John the Evangelist (www.ssje.org/growrule/). All are welcome to join us as we grow our own Rule of Life. We will meet for 4 Sundays in Lent at 11:45am in the First Church library, beginning March 10.
Spring is HERE!
Blessings to you all,
God help us all
