Good morning. It's been a thrill to see Olympic medallist Tom Daley knitting while waiting for competition. Wow, his yarn and needles are shaking up people's brains about guys and knitting!
We've been puzzling about working with 100% linen yarn. We carry El Linio by Schoppel-Wolle. We like the color choices and really thought this would be a great choice for a shopping bag, the kind that expands when you keep adding things to it.
Studio knitter Pat knit a lovely and durable totebag for a studio sample. Linen, like cotton, has no stretch so it's more like working with cotton or string.
Tamie, on the other hand, who is our resident go-to crochet expert, felt like El Linio was not her thing. She crocheted a short version of the Windowpane Scarf.
When you order some El Linio, let us know what you think. Ravelry shows a multitude of summer tops made from this yarn. Linen is cool to wear. It's definitely a warm weather fiber!
Speaking of Ravelry, we highly recommend using this social media site for finding crochet and knitting patterns. There's multitude of information about various yarns and designs to be found on Ravelry.
This is a good time of the year to get a pair of socks going. We send out a free sock pattern with every sock yarn order AND we carry oodles of really cool Crazy Zauberball. It's a popular hard-to-resist sock yarn!
Not thinking about starting a new project? Do take a look the Graywood blog post about keeping a knitting journal. Sometimes just writing something down can give you a new outlook.

Try to catch the Perseid meteor shower this weekend. One app that we like, Sky Guide, says that peak activity is the night of August 12-13, but a good number of meteors should also be visible for a few night before and after the peak.
We'll be back next Friday.
