3/13 Ceramics Open Studio: Monitor- Doug

March Beginning Wheel Throwing & Surface Decoration (class 2 of 4)
Dates: Mondays March 7, 14, 21*, 28 (4-week class)
Time: 10am-1pm (*12-3pm on March 21)
Instructor: Lisa Opfer
Cost: $185 / person

This class is for absolute beginners with no experience, to advanced beginners. Students will learn the process of throwing on a potter’s wheel and how to decorate the surface of their pieces with various techniques, including underglazing, sgraffito and carving techniques.
Hatha-Based Yoga with Cindi Schickert
Dates: Mondays in March 3/7, 14, 21, 28
Time: 6-7:15pm
Instructor: Cindi Schickert
Cost: $40 / person for the 4-week March session, or $12 / class drop-in

These classes are Hatha based, where postures are held for a few breaths with some slow flow added in.

March Yoga Flow with Kate Remme
Dates: Wednesdays weekly in March, 3/2, 9, 16, 23 (4-week class)
Time: 8:30-9:30am

This athletic and strengthening Yoga class will flow from one pose to the next, while releasing muscle tension & reducing stress. Various styles of Yoga will be explored, such as Power Yoga, Ashtanga, Vinyasa, and Yoga Fusion. Modifications offered for all levels.
Watercolor Community Class (virtual or in-person)

This is an open studio watercolor community class under the guidance of Dr. Donna Murray. Participants will provide their own materials.

In this unit, students will explore the seasons we experience here in the Northwoods, focusing on the element of color.
March Corks & Canvas

With instruction and guidance from an experienced artist/teacher, participants will paint their own version of an example image and will start at the beginning, including a description of tools and materials, and proceed step by step through the creation of an acrylic painting.
This class is open to adults. Includes one drink from our Inspiration Bar!
Amanda Anderson: LIVE @ Inspiration Bar
Date: Friday, March 18
Time: 7-9pm
Cost: free to attend!

With keyboard as her main instrument, Amanda brings a contemplative and introspective feel to the songs she writes and performs. Much of her musical inspiration comes from her life experiences, as well as her interests in personal growth and expansion, spirituality, and nature photography, to name a few.

Poetry Reading with Tinker Schuman (Migizikwe) and John Bates
Date: Sunday, March 20 (Spring Equinox)

Local authors Tinker Schuman (Migizikwe) and John Bates will read from a selection of their prose and poetry centered around the seasonal turnings in nature and in our lives.

Tinker Schuman is a free verse published poet, storyteller, and spiritual helper. She is a member of the Ojibwe Nation of Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin. Her Native name is Migizikwe, or Eagle Woman. As a poet, her work is established in Native American heritage, but is related and relevant to all walks of life, the pathways of travel on Mother Earth. She is the author of a trilogy entitled Reflections, with the first volume titled Reborn in the Sun. She is also the co-author of The Healing Blanket and a poetry CD All My Relatives: Gakina Nin De Was Maa. Her many accolades include being presented with the “Elder of the Year Award” by the Wisconsin Indian Education Association.
John Bates is the author of ten books and a contributor to seven others, all of which focus on the natural history of the Northwoods. His poetry has been published in the Oxford Magazine, Wisconsin Academy Review, Albatross, and The Northern Review, and in five science-art exhibits. John’s book of poetry, Cold to the Bone, came out in 2017. His most recent non-fiction book is Wisconsin’s Wild Lakes: A Guide to the Last Undeveloped, Natural Lakes.

His music is grounded in personal experience and culture history. His songs tell well-crafted stories that heal, teach and bridge his Native American roots to all peoples.
