Beloved of Trinity Church,
It is hard to believe we have come to our final week together. It is bittersweet and hopeful at the same time! I look forward to gathering with you this coming Sunday, August 9th for worship and fellowship.
We will celebrate our many ministries, say ‘Thank You’ and ‘I’m sorry.’ We will share an
amazing BBQ, prepared by our Breakfast Sunday team and many parish households! And we will say farewell – which is a healthy thing to do. Doing all these things will help create space for exciting new beginnings to come.
The Rev. Canon Alan Dennis will join us – along with Mrs. Jenny Dennis – from New York City to help bless us on our new journeys.
As I said in my message on August 2nd:
“I have loved serving with you, and I am so grateful for all your kindness, your gifts to me. I
carry all that you have taught me in my heart, and I will share it with others along the way.” I believe and I trust that even now - for you and for me - God is preparing a new future filled with Christian service, love, and joy.
For me, it was a powerful call from God’s Holy Spirit, to come and serve among you! Exactly six years ago, I arrived in a time of pandemic fear and great change. We said ‘Hello’ in a drive-by car parade, on the Gazebo and on Zoom, on hikes and outdoor worship.
It has been incredibly gratifying to watch Trinity come alive again! To see newcomers and
families and so many children. We have done so much together. And now it is time for your next leader to walk with you in new outreach and new ministries.
In our Episcopal Church, my departure means that I will no longer be able to offer any pastoral services for you. This feels hard – but there is wisdom in this painful truth. I need to say goodbye – so that you can and will connect with your next leader. I am very curious about what God’s Spirit is creating for you, even now!
It is summer and Sabbath – and some are traveling this Sunday. It’s okay! Thank you, all. May the peace of Christ be with you.
