Jim works full time as General Manager of a family-owned construction equipment business in Orange, while Sandra is Senior Vice President of Diversified Investments at the Ashforth Company in Stamford. They enjoy traveling, especially to visit their children—a 26-year-old daughter who is a nurse in Chicago and a 23-year-old son living in Fort Myers, Florida. At Trinity of Newtown, Jim has proudly served on the Property Committee and helped guide the recent roof installation, and previously at Trinity of Southport he held numerous leadership roles, including rebuilding their nursery school after Hurricane Sandy, chairing their Property Committee, serving multiple Vestry terms, acting as Senior Warden, and participating on rector search committees. Join Jean Kreizinger on Sunday February 1st following the church service for the screening of a short documentary about her life and career as a scientist and educator. Her daughter Karyl Kreizinger Evans, a 6-time Emmy Award winning documentary filmmaker, is inviting members of Trinity Church and friends to the first public screening of a very personal documentary she made about her mother, who has been a member of Trinity for over 50 years. The 30-minute film tells the unique story of Dr. Jean Dolloff Kreizinger, now 94, who went against the social norms of the 1950s to pursue a career as a scientist. The film will be shown in the Johnson Room/Library and coffee will be provided.

Lord, you have come to the lakeshore looking neither for wealthy nor wise ones; you only asked me to follow humbly. O Lord, you have looked into my eyes; kindly smiling, you’ve called out my name. On the sand I have abandoned my small boat; now with you, I will seek other seas.
If the weather plays nicely and allows us to congregate this Sunday, we will sing one of my favorite hymns, “Lord, You Have Come to the Lakeshore” originally Tú has venido à la orilla. I hear it’s one of our Rector’s favorites too! This hymn’s words echo this week’s Gospel story of Jesus calling the fishermen to leave their nets and follow him. The descriptive words of this song invite us to imagine ourselves standing at the water’s edge, hearing Jesus call our name, and deciding whether we are willing to trust him enough to take that step. The easy, rolling melody of the music almost feels like a small boat on quiet water, steady and calm even when the future is unknown. As we sing the hymn together, you will be welcomed to sing in either English or Spanish as both are provided in the lyrics.
And speaking of singing, did your New Year’s resolution include trying something new? Now is a great time to get involved in Trinity Music! Do you sing? Do you play an instrument? Maybe you’d like to add your voice to the choir, even if just on occasion. Let’s get you making music for the glory of God! If you’re even somewhat interested, drop me an email at JSisco@trinitynewtownct.org.
Stay warm and stay blessed!

This week, we will begin by learning about the liturgical year and the different seasons of the church. Children will be introduced to how the church calendar guides our worship throughout the year and how each season helps us tell the story of God’s love. We will use Godly Play materials to help us visualize how many weeks there are in each season. I will be challenging them to notice what color they may see in church this Sunday and we will discuss their observations next week.
In the coming months, our children will explore the life of our church and the practices that shape our Sundays. We will learn about the sacraments of the church: what they are, why they matter, and when we encounter them in our lives. Together, we’ll talk about Baptism, the meaning of Communion, and what happens during a typical Sunday service.
Just a reminder, this Sunday we will also be holding our Annual Meeting. The Kids Klub room will be open for families, with activities available to help keep children engaged during the meeting.
