Offering Emergency Diapers to Families in Need
St. Louis County Library

Through a partnership with the St. Louis Diaper Bank, St. Louis County Library opened a drive-thru for emergency diapers at four library branch locations earlier this week. The supply of up to 25 diapers per family can be picked up for children ages three and under.
Encouraging Young Basketball Fans to Read
The Indianapolis Public Library

Through a partnership with the the Indiana Pacers, The Indianapolis Public Library has debuted a new "Call-a-Pacer" reading program inspired by a love of basketball and reading. Children and families can call a free 24-hour telephone line to hear basketball-themed stories read by Pacers players and personalities.
Call for Creative Art and Writing from Community Members
Arlington Public Library

The first issue of Quaranzine , a new weekly collection of creative works from the Arlington, Va. community highlighting COVID-19 response efforts, debuted earlier this week. All patrons are encouraged to submit original art, writing or photography work for the chance to be published on a monthly basis.
Patty Wong Elected ALA President
Santa Monica Public Library

Congratulations to Santa Monica Public Library Director of Library Services Patty Wong for being elected as the 2021-2022 president-elect of ALA. Wong noted, "Our immediate challenges rest with the impact of COVID-19 on libraries, library workers, advocates and library users in this country and throughout the world."
HELP A LIBRARY WORKER OUT CAMPAIGN
The EveryLibrary Institute is fundraising to support library workers, librarians and staff who are facing unexpected financial difficulties because of the coronavirus pandemic. The new HALO fund will make small, unrestricted grants to individuals to help with housing expenses, child care, groceries and more.

ULC LIBRARIES USE 3-D PRINTERS TO HELP FIGHT COVID-19
In our latest blog post, discover how Charlotte Mecklenburg Library, Durham County Library, Enoch Pratt Free Library, Milton Public Library and Prince George's County Memorial Library System are stepping up to help fight the coronavirus outbreak by using 3-D printers to create personal protective equipment for health care workers.
LIVE INSTAGRAM EVENT FRIDAY, APRIL 10
Using two of the library's 3-D printers from home, Prince George's County Memorial Library System Digital Services Specialist Olivia Horvath is printing framing parts for face shields in an effort to help first responders at Baltimore hospitals.

To learn more about this work, join Olivia Horvath for a live demonstration of the 3-D printing on the library's Instagram this Friday, April 10, at 11:30 a.m. ET. ULC's Communications Manager Paul Negron will be moderating questions for this session.
