ULC JOINS PARTNERSHIP TO BOOST VACCINE CONFIDENCE
|
|
ULC is partnering with leading organizations in the library and museum fields to support Communities for Immunity, an initiative designed to boost vaccine confidence across the U.S at the local level. This collaboration is being led by the Association of Science and Technology Centers (ASTC) with support from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Additional partners include:
- The American Alliance of Museums
- The American Library Association
- The Association of African American Museums
- The Association of Children's Museums
- The Association for Rural & Small Libraries
- The Association of Science and Technology Centers
- The Association of Tribal Archives, Libraries, & Museums
- The Network of the National Library of Medicine
Communities for Immunity builds on a number of ongoing library field efforts to activate engagement in vaccine confidence work, including REopening Archives, Libraries and Museums (REALM), a research partnership between OCLC, IMLS and Battelle.
ASTC will be hosting a webinar this Friday, August 13, at 1 p.m. ET to provide more information about this initiative, including how libraries can apply to the award program.

Providing Free Access to High-Tech Tools
Carmel Clay Public Library
|
|
Opened in 2016, the Digital Media Lab serves the patrons of Carmel Clay Public Library as a center for creative exploration, collaboration, innovation and production. This free resource enables community members to develop new skills in 3-D design, digital illustration, audio recording and graphic design.
Patrons can sign up for a wide variety of classes, both one-on-one and via groups, to learn how to develop or sharpen their digital skills. Staff members at the Digital Media Lab provide technical and creative support to both new and experienced patrons who are working on either personal or professional projects. Last week, the library celebrated National Coloring Book Day by encouraging community members to stop by the Lab to check out the selection of Carmel-themed digital coloring pages.
