Welcome to the family! Jersey City Free Public Library is the newest addition to the ULC member community. JCFPL boasts 400,000+ pieces of printed, audiovisual and electronic resources for the city's 240,055 patrons. The library hit the ground running by signing our Statement on Race and Social Equity this week.

On Thursday, January 9, the U.S. Senate confirmed KCPL’s executive director as the new leader of the Institute for Museum and Library Services. Kemper will become the federal agency’s sixth director and serve a four-year term.
Scott Kinney Begins New CEO-Director Role
Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library

Indiana's Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library has welcomed Scott Kinney as its new CEO-Director, beginning this month. Kinney previously served as director at Mobile Public Library in Mobile, Ala. Prior to his tenure in Mobile, Kinney was the director of the Sweetwater County Library System in Green River, Wyo. and served as the director of the Chadron Public Library in Chadron, Neb.
Patty Wong Runs for ALA President

SMPL Director of Library Services Patty Wong is a candidate for the position of 2020-2021 ALA President. Wong will engage in a candidates’ forum from 4:30–5:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 25, during the 2020 ALA Midwinter meeting in Philadelphia. Ballot mailing for the 2020 ALA election begins on March 9, 2020 and will run through April 1, 2020. Best of luck, Patty!

Welcome and Congratulations to New ALA Executive Director Tracie D. Hall

The first female African American executive director in ALA’s history, Hall takes the reigns on February 24, 2020. She comes to the association from her role as director of the Joyce Foundation’s Culture Program, having previously worked at Seattle Public Library, New Haven Free Public Library, Queens Public Library and Hartford Public Library.
