Digital Equity Leadership: Mapping a Path Forward Leaders Discussion

The pandemic has both intensified the digital divide and created a window for action by raising the visibility of what it means to be unconnected in our hyper-connected world.

On Tuesday, April 5 at 2 p.m. ET, ULC's Director of Edge Lourdes Aceves will lead an interactive discussion with members of the ULC Digital Equity action team – comprised of 21 libraries – who have dedicated the past year to mapping out the greatest challenges and opportunities for fostering digital equity in communities.

SPOTLIGHT ON INNOVATION
Intersections Magazine
Forsyth County Public Library

Forsyth County Public Library’s Intersections magazine debuted in 2021, designed to showcase the library’s significance to their community. The name reflects the idea of FCPL as a crossroads where people can come together. Each issue highlights various community organizations, with great progress made in solidifying existing partnerships and attracting new partners from a broad section of the community. 
AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN ACT UPDATE
Third Application Filing Window | Emergency Connectivity Fund

The Federal Communications Commission announced that it is opening a third application filing window to award at least $1 billion in Emergency Connectivity Fund support. The third application filing window opens on April 28, 2022 and will close on May 13, 2022. During this third application filing window, eligible libraries can submit requests for funding to purchase eligible equipment and services between July 1, 2022 and December 31, 2023.

Congratulations to Enoch Pratt Free Library CEO Heidi Daniel for being named one of Maryland's Top 100 Women by The Daily Record. Daniel was chosen for her professional achievement and community leadership. Winners are selected by past Top 100 Women and business leaders. 
Showcasing African Americans in the Literary World
Detroit Public Library

Detroit Public Library recently released their 2022 African American booklist, continuing this publication for over 50 years. This bibliography provides a selected list of books by and/or about African Americans with this year's theme being "The Ties That Bind: African Writers and the Black Diaspora." The works of fiction and nonfiction for adults, children and young adults were reviewed and recommended by librarians at the library. 
Support and Resources for Ukraine
Richmond Hill Public Library

To better understand the war in Ukraine, Richmond Hill Public Library curated a selection of articles, books and movies to help patrons navigate these current events. These resources include current news articles, content for families and classrooms and research portals.
