Care Circle Sunday September 29

You're invited to a special fellowship time this Sunday, September 29, when we'll celebrate our Care Circle ministry! All members will be able to connect with their Care Circle Coordinators. Guests are welcome to stay and learn more about this unique model of congregational ministry.

The care circles have each received a new name! They are now named Spirit, Blessing, Hope, Peace, Grace, Joy, Dove, and Faith. Click here to see the former names of each care circle and their new name, along with the coordinators for each group.

Blessing Bag

Supplies Needed

The connection group, Women on a Mission, continues to make“Blessing Bags” for anyone needing a blessing and a reminder that they are one of God’s children. They are great to have in your car to hand out when approached by a homeless person at a stoplight or parking lot or when visiting a nursing home. Needed supplies are non-perishable food donations like peanut butter/cheese crackers and granola bars, socks, hand sanitizer, lip balm, tissues, travel-size shampoo, toothbrush, and toothpaste. Please bring your donations to church and put them in the box in the Fellowship Hall.

Chair Yoga

The classes, led by a certified yoga instructor, will be held each Monday from 11:00 to noon in rooms 104-107 from September 30 through December 16 (skipping November 25). The 10 sessions will be $50 payable to Mary Whitehead, or participants may also drop into each class and pay $5 per session. If you plan to participate, please text Becky Rexroad at 330-883-1273 or email her.

Neighbors in Need

During worship on October 6, we'll support Neighbors In Need through a special offering. One-third of the offering supports the Council for American Indian Ministry (CAIM). Two-thirds are used by Justice and Witness Ministries to provide grants to UCC churches and organizations as well as supporting a variety of justice initiatives, advocacy efforts, and direct service projects.

Noon Book Study

Begins October 2

Join us as we read The Gravity of Joy: A Story of Being Lost and Found by Angela Williams Gorrell. Let us (re)discover authentic Christian joy in a time of despair and negativity. Every week, we'll discuss how each chapter relates to our lives. We'll gather in Rooms 106-107. Contact Pastor Sigrid with questions.

Roundtable Pot Luck & Discussions

Dovetailing our October sermon series "Loving My Neighbor in an Election Season," we'll gather on three Sunday evenings to put the lessons into practice. We'll break bread together at a potluck meal and then address complex topics in meaningful conversation. Using strategies from Elizabeth Hagan's book Brave Church, we'll seek to build mutual understanding. Together, we'll model how to lean in with curiosity, respect differences, and act with love. Join us on October 13, 20, and 27, from 5-6:30 pm in Fellowship Hall.
