PARSHAT HASHAVUA

משנכנס אדר מרבין בשמחה

Adar fun continues on Shushan Purim!

EARLY CHILDHOOD

Ganon Bet rocked their costumes and had a blast celebrating Shushan Purim! We had a Mad Science show where we observed experiments using various chemicals; we saw fire and heard loud popping sounds! We had a surprise dance performance from third grade girls. The girls wrote Purim lyrics to a song and created dance moves. Lastly, we had a carnival with over 10 activities and even got prizes to take home!

Gan Daled built their own Shushan on Shushan Purim using three dimensional shapes. We learned the names for each shape and noticed the defining characteristics. We then closed our eyes and each took a turn selecting two shapes to create our structure. For each block added we needed to carefully think about placement depending on the flat or curved surfaces the shape had. When our Shushan was complete we counted and wrote down how many of each shape we used. We had a great time working on our own 3D designs as well.

LOWER SCHOOL

Our first graders are focusing on place value in addition with regrouping. They are learning to add ones first and then the tens, and when they make a group of ten ones, they exchange ten ones for one ten. They had fun reinforcing this skill by playing Roll to 50. First person to reach 50 wins! It was a fun and engaging way to strengthen their addition skills.

4D has been traveling through Eretz Yisrael and learning about Bnei Yisrael’s conquest of the land in Sefer Yehoshua. In Perakim ז׳ and ח׳, students learned about the two battles of Ai, which were filled with strong emotions and challenges. To explore these emotions more deeply, students conducted mock interviews. They had the opportunity to interview Yehoshua, Achan, or a soldier from the battle, helping them better understand the experiences and perspectives of those involved.

MIDDLE SCHOOL

Our annual 8th grade run carnival was a blast as usual. Our 8th graders created and ran amazing booths for our lower school and 6th grade students. Students enjoyed popcorn, ping pong, music, carnival games, prizes and so much more. For the first time, our 7th grade also ran a carnival for our ECD students. They did a great job and had an amazing time as well. Well done to our 7th and 8th grade students on their leadership - and for ensuring our younger students had an amazing Shushan Purim!
